What Cassie doesn’t realize is that there’s more at risk than a few unsolved homicides— especially when she’s sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own. The Naturals | Awards & Grants". American Library Association. December 4, 2018 . Retrieved 2021-12-21. The Naturals Series is a four-novel series of mystery/thriller fiction novels by author Jennifer Lynn Barnes.

While at work one day, she meets a strange boy (who we later find out is named Michael), leaves a business card asking Cassie to call Agent Briggs of the FBI. Cassie calls Briggs, and he asks her to join the FBI for this new project that they’re doing with Naturals – people who have a natural ability to read people and situations, who are perfect for the stuff that the FBI does (mainly hunting for serial killers and investigating abductions). Cassie agrees to join up with the FBI because she believes it is what her mother would have wanted. After an intense discussion with her grandmother, she jets off to a house where the rest of the Naturals are staying. After a string of brutal murders in Las Vegas, Cassie Hobbes and the Naturals are called in to investigate. But even with the team's unique profiling talents, these murders seem baffling: unlike many seria...Cassie is a natural profiler. Her mother was murdered when she was younger, and she went to live with her father, who then joined the armed forces. She now lives with her Italian grandmother.

The agents go to Club Muse, where Genevieve was last seen. This time, they take Cassie with them, since the killer obviously wants her involved. In the bathroom, Cassie sees a code that spells out “For a good time, call Lorelai. Guaranteed plus one. Kola and Thorn.” Lorelai was her mother’s name. “Kola and Thorn” is an anagram for a street, which the agents then go to. The initial book was followed by Killer Instinct, published in 2014. The third book, All In, came out in 2015, and the fourth and final book, Bad Blood, was published in 2016. A novella, titled Twelve, was published in 2017.When Cassie Hobbes joined the FBI's Naturals program, she had one goal: uncover the truth about her mother's murder. But now, everything Cassie thought she knew about what happened that night has been called into question. Her mother is alive, and th...

Sloane is better with numbers and statistics than people. She knows this for a fact, and states that she "says and does the wrong thing 86.5% of the time". However, she still strongly cares for Cassie and everyone else in the Naturals program. Sloane and Cassie are roommates and Sloane is shown to be a neat freak which infinitely amuses Cassie. Though they generally don't talk much, Sloane and Cassie love each other like sisters and are always there for each other. Bad Blood, Cassie discovers that Lorelai was forced to join a cult against her will and became the Pythia. When the Seven Masters force Cassie to either kill her mom or be killed by her, Lorelai tells Cassie she loves her and forces Cassie to kill her. While taking a course where she would work in a lab with monkeys, she fell in love with that area of science, and she finally made her decision on her major. Thus she ended up taking several psychology courses along with linguistics and philosophy, as she became interested in learning how our mind works. But when victims of a brutal new serial killer start turning up, the Naturals are pulled into an active case that strikes too close to home: the killer is a perfect copycat of Dean’s incarcerated father — a man he’d do anything to forget. Forced deeper into a murderer’s psyche than ever before, will the Naturals be able to outsmart the enigmatic killer’s brutal mind games before this copycat twists them into his web for good?

Families can talk about crime stories in books and on TV. Is it important for them to accurately reflect real police work? Crime dramas on TV, for example, often show crime-scene technicians wearing high heels to a crime scene. How does The Naturals compare with these kinds of TV shows? Cassie discovers things about her mother and her family. Why do you think Cassie's mother didn't tell her about her family history and past? Why keep it a secret? Whilst at work one day, she “meets” a guy called Michael, who leaves a business card asking Cassie to call Agent Briggs from the FBI. The concept behind THE NATURALS is kind of interesting, but it doesn't work for various reasons. The big one: It's hard to accept the premise that the FBI would hire a bunch of kids (who aren't even attending high school) to solve crimes, especially ones involving serial killers. At one point, Cassie wonders if the FBI even knows the "Naturals" program exists, except for the two agents who recruited her. Readers may suspend disbelief for the sake of pure entertainment, but the novel's all over the place. It's predictable and full of cliches (a love triangle, insta-love, missing parents) and has unlikable characters. All In her mother's body is believed to be found. Cassie takes this very hard & wants to take down the person who killed her mother. It takes a while for her to open up & reveal this to the others which she eventually does in a game of Two truths and a lie.Harding, Elizabeth (September 30, 2013). "The Naturals". Publishers Weekly. Archived from the original on October 29, 2020 . Retrieved October 29, 2020. What Cassie doesn’t realize is that there’s more at risk than a few unsolved homicides—especially when she’s sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own. Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. And when a new killer strikes, danger looms close. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with a killer, the Naturals are going to have to use all of their gifts just to survive.
