About this deal

Thank you for your support and the very helpful link which shows clearly my next SFF Alderlake built needs a stronger SFX PSU. Hopefully there will be SF850+ in future. It is not usually practical to reach unity, i.e. Power Factor 1, and it seems that most electricity supply companies accept consumers having a Power Factor as low as 0.94 (94%) without imposing a surcharge. Unfortunately most of the cheap (and not so cheerful) PSUs tend to have a Passive PF as low as 0.75 or 75% which in a large office can lead to a PF surcharge. Is the damage to other components an assumption? If it has been proven that any hardware has been damaged, then a damage claim should be put in with Corsair to have those parts replaced as well. But the failure of the PSU is on the primary side. The PFC diode, to be precise, so it's EXTREMELY unlikely for there to be damage to anything on the DC side.

The most powerful SFX power supply in the market, perfect for the most power-dense small-form-factor PCs. 80 PLUS PLATINUM CERTIFIED The most powerful SFX power supply in the market, perfect for the most power-dense small-form-factor PCs. 80 Plus Platinum CertifiedElectrolytics: 1x Nippon Chemi-Con (4-10,000 @ 105°C, KY), 2x Rubycon (3-6,000 @ 105°C, YXG) Polymers: Nippon Chemi-Con (G61B, G8, G84R, G84G, G85F), 6x Nichicon (LG) The SF750 has only 2 PCIe splitting in two connectors. So is there a difference using 1 PCIe and 1 PCIe splitted in two and on the other hand using 3 discrete PCIe cables? I mean do I get more wattage with 3 separate PCIe cables or doesn't it matter. Primary side: Half-Bridge & LLC Resonant Controller Secondary side: Synchronous Rectification & DC-DC converters Unfortunately in the real world, Power Factor is reduced by highly inductive loads down to values of 0.7 (70%) or less. This induction is caused by equipment such as small electric motors, fans, fluorescent lighting ballasts and transformers such as those in PSUs. This is bad news for the electricity generating companies who can impose a surcharge on heavy users if they have a consistently low Power Factor, as more electricity has to be produced to make up the shortfall. But for the other accusations you are making: I have not seen a single example or claim of the SF failure damaging any other part of the PC.

I am currently going through a RMA. I don't know the extent of the damage yet. If you are in this situation, figure out who is the distributor and request the RMA claim form (mine was TIYU). The SF PLATINUM Series upgrades the SFX-standard 80mm fan to 92mm, reducing noise and improving performance at demanding loads. Innovative Internal DesignBy using high-end electrolytic capacitors, SF PLATINUM Series provides the unwavering power and long-term reliability you’ve come to expect from a CORSAIR power supply. Zero RPM Fan Mode DC-DC Converters: 4x Infineon PSMN2R0-30YLE (30V, 100A @ 100°C, 2.8mOhm @ 100°C) PWM Controller: APW7159C All PC power supplies contain very high voltages and even with the power disconnected, the voltages stored in the capacitors can be easily enough to kill. It is not recommended to take the cover off any PC power supply for this reason unless you are absolutely confident of your own ability. Because of the grave dangers involved, all PC power supplies by law carry a warning label forbidding removal of the power supply case. However, the good news is that most of Quiet PC’s PSUs implement a system known as Active PFC which involves some clever electronics. This means that their power factor (PF) can be as high as 0.94 or 94% (at full load), while harmful harmonic frequencies are reduced to well below legal requirements. So by using our products, you can be happy in the knowledge that you are doing your bit to save the planet! Please consider the above points very carefully before proceeding with an operation to replace the fan in your existing power supply!

Virtually all the noise generated by a PC power supply originates from the cooling fan inside it, so simply replacing the fan with a quiet fan may seem an obvious way to go. However, if you are thinking about attempting this operation, please bear the following points in mind:At low and medium loads the SF450 PLATINUM’s cooling fan doesn’t spin until you need it, for near-silent operation. 92mm Cooling Fan If you are interested in being “green” and saving the planet, you might like to read a short explanation of how our power supplies can save energy using Active PFC (Power Factor Correction), not to be confused with Power Conversion Efficiency which is also very good in most of our PSUs. “Power Factor” is a measure of how efficiently electrical power is consumed. Ideally, Power Factor would be 1 (or 100%) and known as unity. mr_chen said:"fizzle out," the article is being too nice to Corsair. I have bought one of the Corsair SF750. The PSU fails spectaculary. It makes random electric discharge in your computer case. It's as loud as hitting a table with a ruler. Basically your PSU turn into a tesla coil. For some users, it kills their computer. Electrolytics: 1x Nippon Chemi-Con (4 - 10,000 h lifetime @ 105 °C, KY series), 2x Rubycon (3 - 6,000 h lifetime @ 105°C, YXG series)
