St. Jude (15th Anniversary Edition) - Album by Courteeners
On 2 April 2016, Courteeners (initially billed as 'Liam Fray') [61] headlined a tribute concert for Viola Beach in Warrington, with all proceeds going towards the families of the band members and their manager. Jude is an indie rock album that takes aspect of bands from Manchester: the attitude of Oasis; the production work of the Smiths, who Street previously worked with; and the jangle pop and psychedelic elements of the Stone Roses. It was certified gold in the UK by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) in 2008 and platinum in 2023. Time will tell whether the Courteeners have more than one good album in them, but there is always room for this spirited take on British indie rock. Tickets for the show went on sale on 2 November 2018 and all 50,000 tickets had sold out in less than four hours. Naturally, as this is a celebration of St Jude, fans can expect the album in full alongside their greatest hits from a career that continues to see them rise and rise as one of the most important guitar bands of recent times. Jude (2008), Falcon (2010), Anna (2013), Concrete Love (2014), Mapping the Rendezvous (2016) and More.

Produced by the legendary Stephen Street, the album spawned Top 40 anthems such as ‘Not Nineteen Forever’, ‘What Took You So Long? On 23 June 2012, the band played a free show in Manchester's Albert Square in the shadow of the town hall. The album was supported by a 19-date UK Tour in October and November, including shows at Brixton Academy in London and Echo Arena Liverpool. The live EP, Live at Manchester Apollo, recorded at their most recent tour, was released on 10 October 2008.
Elsewhere, lines such as “You’re having a shit night, but I’m having a ball” or “They do my ‘ead in” are perhaps less poetic, but Fray effortlessly applies for the position of working-class hero: “Has anyone got work in the morning? Two versions were released on seven-inch vinyl: the first with "Trying Too Hard to Score", while the other featured a demo version of "If It Wasn't for Me". As this is a one-off show, we won't know until the night what surprises the Courteeners might be prepared to spring on the homecoming crowd, although we do know the songs of St Jude will all feature.
Courteeners Claim Record as ‘St. Jude’ Rides to U.K. Chart
Over the next few months, the band performed at various festivals, including T in the Park, Ibiza Rocks, Wireless and V Festivals. The collection will see the seminal album remastered in full in a range of different editions - incorporating fan favourite B-sides, acoustic versions and more across collectible formats. The entire crowd sing Oasis’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Star before the band are on, and the suspicion that Courteeners fill an Oasis-sized hole is furthered by chants of “Li-am” (at Fray, not Gallagher) and Fray’s entrance in the kind of bizarre, outsized, hooded outfit sported by his namesake. Not only that, but their 2008 debut marks the Manchester-formed rock trio’s first-ever number one album, following the release of their 15th anniversary addition of the record – featuring remastered tracks and previously unreleased material.Chiefly, one suspects, his reticence is down to the fact he’s(knowlingly or otherwise) amped up expectation for this record to gargantuan levels.
