About this deal

Bottomley, who ran martial arts classes and also worked as a doorman in Southport, was today jailed for 14 years. That was after one of his victims called him a "monster" and a top judge branded him "dishonest and devious". This by far has taken me the longest to finish a book as it just dragged on....The first 40% was a confusing mess. I’m still not sure I quite understand it’s purpose other than rambling. From Emery muttering “pretty words”... each chapter was something more rediculous... like i said earlier…nash had so much potential. one of the main things i liked was that at the beginning of the book. nash beats the shit out of a guy who sexually assaulted emery…of course emery thought it was reed who did that for her, but no. Her mother had sent her and able on an errand, and Able used it as an opportunity to rape Emery Winthrop after downing a bottle of whiskey from Emerys fathers collection.

Falling in love with you is like diving blindly into a book, not knowing it’s destined to be my favorite. Whatever’s more than love, I feel it for you. I am only ever going to be in love with you.” He'd tranformed from the older brother Reed had once idolized to this monster neither of us could recognize. Like mentioned earlier, Nash hated the Winthrop family. He blamed them for the death of his father. It was interesting to see this character begin to realize that he may have gotten somethings wrong and that he may have feelings for Emery. And then we have Emery. She had this huge guilt over what happened. After her father’s company collapsed, several people lost their job and although she wasn’t responsible for it, she had this guilt. Also, she went from having everything handed to her, to having nothing. She lived in a literal closest trying to make ends meet. But she never lost her spark. MC characters: Devious Lies consumes us in a heartbreaking tale of Emery Winthrop, a passionate girl who puts new words on T-shirts everyday. Nash Prescott, a man driven by goal for penance and revenge on Emery's family.

See what I mean...about the dramatics? I really wish I could see them both in the same saintly light, but I think this book tried too hard with the whole "I feed the homeless, im so selfless and such a good person😩" script that I mostly cringed. She needed a job, and she landed herself in Nash Prescotts company, unknown to her at first. The only thing that was on Nash’s mind when he learned that Emery Winthrop sought a job in his company was revenge. How to make her suffer for the sins of her father. He hated the Winthrop family to the bone, and he considered it fateful that Emery Winthrop had landed in his nest. Nash and Emery are basically everything! Emery is my favorite kind of heroine, feisty, strong, smart, simply amazing. And Nash, oh man, love me some Nash. A broken hero with a huge heart that falls madly in love and it’s just incredible to watch his evolution. Can’t get over their amazing chemistry and their ridiculously funny banter. Total equals, just how I love it. I’m all for slow burners but this felt like it was moving at a snail pace, I had to listen to a lot of it at 1.25x speed just so I wouldn’t throw a fit.

also, i understand that he was hesitant towards Emery because of the 10 year age gap, but the way he phrased it sometimes was not it 😭 i could not tell you guys a single thing about them. all i want to say is that every time nash or emery talked to the side characters…i would seriously skim and not take in anything of what they were saying because it was so boring. i didn’t understand why these characters were even written. definitely another reason why this book was so long. emery and nash might as well have been side characters too because i felt no connection to them. i didn’t sense any kind of chemistry either. how did i finish this book😩 the betraying body syndrome was strong with Emery. Nash would treat her like shit, and she'd be salivating over him 😭 for the record, i don't really like Nash either, but he said it perfectly here: Wow, I totally didn’t expect this book and how much I was going to love it. It blew my mind. This book has a gorgeous cover, which is the first thing I noticed. Then it kept popping everywhere and being recommended by a lot of people, and to be honest that always scares me because so many times before I haven’t loved books that everyone else loves. Well, I’m happy to say that this time they were right with the recommendation cause this book was all sorts of amazing and it hooked me from the first word. And obviously, I recommend this to whoever has eyes, too, of course, because that impossibly hot COVER is the cherry on top to a cake you didn't know you needed in your life, but definitely do. And the notes that Nash writes to Emery. They aren’t notes but paragraphs of monologues. Who writes such long notes to leave in a lunchbox? It’s like it’s torn out of his diary.... In the beginning, I thought of dnf-ing it because it felt really slow. But I continued because somehow I got the feel that the build was necessary. And boy, was it. This book has everything that a reader could want for. Amazing vocabulary that knew just how to convey the emotions in words, amazing plot with completely unexpected twists, the absolute right feels, a strong-willed h that doesn't once break (even though she had mighty reason to, in my opinion), a sexy hero who'll make you hate him something fierce in the beginning -but once the misunderstandings start clearing up, you'll end up loving him. It's not often that I come across an author who can make me FEEL the torment of the characters so entirely. I laughed often and hard, I cried something fierce, felt the conflict, the desperation, the will. The author not once fell into the frustrating trap of "telling and not showing", in fact, this book was all showing. This book is one of my absolute favorites. But when the lights turned on, it wasn’t familiar blue eyes I saw. These were dark, angry, and full of demons. And they belonged to Reed’s much-older brother. DEVIOUS LIES' is the first full length romance book in 'Cruel Crown' series, by new to me author Parker S. Huntington.

The lawyer said it would be Bottomley's first time in jail. He said: "His reaction on receiving the verdicts is perhaps indicative of the predicament he finds himself in and the future that is held for him." BHHAHH byeeee. she was obsessed with these weird words that nobody knows the meaning of. it was supposed to be a ✨quirky✨ trait but it was just so annoying to me😭 Amaaaazzzzzinggggg!!!!!!!!! If I could, I would've given it more than the 5 stars that I did. If you are thinking of skipping this book seeing the length, please don't, it's so worth it and I promise you that at the end of the day you'll be glad for its length. last but not least, the plot.. too many things were happening at once, and at the same time, nothing was going on. this book had SO MANY TROPES and i could never figure out where this was all going. guess i'll never find out because i dnfed the book 🤪 but to name a few, this had enemies to lovers, rich girl/poor boy (in the past), rich boy/not-so-rich heroine (present), heroine working for the hero, age gap, PENPALS (?!), etc. the penpals plot was by far the worst of all. how very convenient that these two have been messaging through an app for three years, sexting, saying "I love you" to each other yet never meet 🤨
