We're thinking that world might be an interesting way into a Final Destination movie, and one which can also generate unique set pieces in a very credible way. The Final Destination films alternate between the time of day that the opening cataclysm takes place.

Kevin saves Julie from being impaled on a harrow, but an airborne flagpole fatally impales Julie's friend Perry Malinowski moments later.
