The seventh story in the Mistborn series is a fascinating diversion from what's gone before, revealing a secret second storyline which occurred simultaneously with the original trilogy. Kelsier asks one of them as they transition through his realm if it's over, and she says that the end is near. And don't get me wrong, I enjoyed him in the first book, but not nearly as much as I liked seeing people's expectations of who the hero would be get completely overturned. As the Koloss die, they enter Kelsier's realm, and he is shocked to see that they are human from all walks of life.

This story is often recommended to be read after The Bands of Mourning, but can be read anytime after The Hero of Ages.Brandon Sanderson is such a talented author, and seeing him talk about this elaborate universe that he has created, with his stories that link it all together, made me awestruck.

Mistborn: Secret History is a fantasy novella by American author Brandon Sanderson, written as a companion story to the original trilogy of the Mistborn series. Still, the concept of Adonalsium being a living being is new, to my knowledge, and I can't help but suspect Sanderson deliberately introduced this idea. As Ruin rages on, Kelsier "says" "hope" to Spook over and over, and eventually Spook removes his spike.

I also loved how we are slowly learning that there are greater problems surrounding this universe, even though we as readers are always just so heavily invested with the story at hand.
