About this deal

I keep the instruction in our folded up mifold seat for easy reference and a summary is also printed on the seat. When it comes to travelling in our Mazda Bongo, I am obsessed with collapsible camping gear for saving space. The mifold Comfort car seats mean that our boys are still safe when were hiring a car or jumping in taxis, but they’re not a nuisance as they fit in the boys’ backpacks. The best thing about the mifold is that it’s so compact and easy to take with you anywhere in case you’ll need to go in a taxi or with a friend who hasn’t got a spare booster seat, for example. Then pull the lap belt through the guides and then clip the positioning strap so the clip sits approximately 1 inch above your child’s shoulder.

It also has great, easy-to-use and secure seatbelt guides which make its use very easy and safe, in any hire car or taxi. Once they had outgrown it I then went on to be extremely selective when it came to the next stage up.

The proposals are to restrict the development of new backless booster seats and limit their use to taller children, above the height of 125cm. I would probably not use them for really long travels or regular travel as my kids love to look out of the window and the seats are understandable lower than the bulky car seats. mifold Sport, the luxury grab-and-go booster, has a more sporty look including a leather-style cushioned seat and incorporates high end materials and artisan craftsmanship. The fact that the seat is so adjustable, makes it slightly more of a hassle to quickly change between kids. Plus, if you don't need it all the time, you can fold it up and make space on your seat for something else, like grocery bags, for the times you don't need to use it.

The adult seat belt chest strap must lie on the child's clavicle (collar bone); not on the face or neck and not over the edge of the shoulder. We can see how parents looking for a travel-friendly or lightweight booster for carpooling would be attracted to the mifold. We therefore always encourage caregivers to use the most protective car seat available that is suitable to the child, the circumstances and the vehicle being used. This means you will always be able to find the perfect fit for your child, and the hifold will continue to fit them as they grow. If you are in the market for a lightweight uber travel-friendly booster seat, the BubbleBum is the one we'd recommend. My daughter sometimes still uses a car journey to rest, and to be able to lean her head against a rest – and the additional safety this provides – is fantastic. I guess it’s handy to have one in the side lines so if necessary we can use something rather than be stuck.

The Mifold booster worked, kept my daughter in place and safe while we took a quick test drive around the neighborhood. We tend to travel light so we need something easy to carry and a car seat that we trust will keep our kids safe. The Hifold is designed for use exclusively in cars that have a lap and shoulder belt seat belt system. Safety-wise, we like the fact that the adult seat belt can be adjusted to fit the individual size of the child with the use of the adjustable safety clip. If you are looking for a travel booster and your child has a more sturdy body build, the Mifold may work well for you.

And for those parents that ideally need to fit three car seats along the back of the car, the Hifold is a narrow car seat designed to fit 3-in-a-row in the majority of cars. See our FAQs for specific details of the territories in which mifold is compliant with local regulations. They could have gone straight into a booster but I wasn’t comfortable with that and waited until a year ago, when Florence was 5 before I allowed a booster anywhere near us. In rotas for the school run, with grandparents or other relatives, in taxis, on holiday, in rental cars and so on. I recorded a video for my Instagram stories showing me setting it up and I think it took me less than 40 seconds to demonstrate it!

We have been trying a MiFold out over the past week and for a quick trip home from ballet when I asked Daddy to pick her up on his way home but the seat wasn’t in her car it was perfect. To use the Mifold, simply unfold it, squeeze the red tabs on the underside to extend the belt guides, and position the booster to rest securely in your car’s seat bight (where the horizontal and vertical parts of your car’s seat come together). We found kids struggled with getting their lap belt into the guides and, when they were successful, the lap belt wasn’t actually where it was supposed to be on their hips—rendering the Mifold unsafe in those instances. The Mifold is easy to fit to the car and pulls the seatbelt into a better position over the shoulder. On a previous Morocco road trip we had brought our car seats from home as we hired a car at Marrakech airport and had the car for the entire trip.
