About this deal

You absolutely shouldn’t use this for Splatoon in any way if you already have a Switch Pro Controller. It’s still a superb gamepad, with exclusive HD Rumble support and Bluetooth support for Windows and mobile, but it can’t match the GuliKit in terms of customization or flexibility. I do have things that I might "hide" which is what some people might sense but I just want to enjoy the fun while it lasts and not dwelve into my traumas and what not. The GuliKit KingKong 2 Pro is an elite near-universal Bluetooth controller with anti-drift joysticks and even amiibo support.

That makes it an absolute deal breaker and kills a recommendation if you’re a Splatoon player, or just like Gyro Aim. The button design they talked about in the link you provided is already being implemented in their new controllers. What it lacks is polish, as it doesn’t feel as premium, and it’s also missing extras like the Hall Effect sticks. I take no pride in criticizing this controller because I wanted it to be that glorious golden saviour of a controller that will never drift, with its d-pad that doesn’t accidentally hit adjacent inputs for platformers, amazing feeling buttons, smooth analog sticks, metal bumpers and triggers, swappable keycaps, easy tear down, direct input capability for retro PC gaming, but the gyroscope’s delay and drift, counter intuitive list of features that requires you to always have the manual on hand, and having to lightly tilt the analog stick and centring it to fix it when it should have been fine when I got it makes it so that I can’t recommend it, and I’d like to address GuliKit themselves now. The other killer feature is the burst mode, which can be used as a turbo option for full auto until you press a button again, or a quick burst of taps for 20 seconds.Controllers have had firmware since the WiiU’s Gamepad as far as my knowledge goes, but I can’t imagine this much software built-in gives the controller good latency compared to what’s offered by Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo, but what if you decide to just ignore Zero Dead Zone mode and play Splatoon 3 with the controller’s gyro aim?

Sadly though, the controllers packed into the box known as the Joy-Cons have been something of an Achilles heel for the Nintendo Switch despite its roaring success over the last few years. The controller itself is about the same size as a Switch Pro Controller and has the same layout to it. Moreover, you can calibrate the a number of the controller’s features like the ZL/ZR triggers’ sensitivity, vibration intensity, stick sensitivity, dead zone and swapping A-B/X-Y.The gyroscope on the Switch Pro controller in Breath of the Wild has a delay of what looks like 5 frames, while the King Kong 2 Pro has a delay by at least 9 frames in Breath of the Wild. If I had known about this update prior to writing this piece, I would have been less harsh towards its gyroscope, and would have praised its accuracy and latency. To give you a sentence with some subtext that I’ll clear up near the end, it has a smooth frictionless feel that needs to be experienced if you have a friend that has one. A: Applying lubricating oil to the buttons (including inside the springs for buttons) can make them smoother and more durable.

For example, DualShock 3 isn't very comfortable for me, but swapping those awful slippery sticks for Xbox One-like sticks helped.

The asymmetrical joysticks are also great to use, with embossed rings and a concave center that provides excellent grip and prevents wayward thumbs.

Pretty good controller and a lot of features like turbo and control playback and having the ability to turn on the switch and gyro is great. PC is kinda notorious for issues with bluetooth and controllers though, so I don't know how much of this I should chalk up to the controller alone - I have had issues with Xbox One controllers without the adapter, DS4 over bluetooth etc.

The con is that bluetooth on PC isn't usually what you want for things like twitch shooters and as a result the latency isn't great and buttons need to be pressed pretty deliberately for input to be recognized it feels like (as in, with a wired controller if I just graze my thumb over a button often it will recognize is), but between the latency and the time resolution maybe there could be some issues here.
