Join them on a whirlwind tour of the sights, including the Tower of London, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace! He has made regular appearances at the National Galleries in Edinburgh and London and visits many schools, and arts and literary festivals. It follows the adventures of Katie and her younger brother Jack who take a tour around London on the back of a golden lion from Trafalgar Square. James Mayhew's first book for children was Katie's Pictures Show, (Orchard Books 1989) establishing the long running series about a child's adventures in an art gallery. Visiting the incredible and famous landmarks that London has to offer are beautiful illustrated in this story.

From Peter and the Wolf, to Scheherazade, James has worked internationally with many different orchestras and musicians, creating illustrations in time to music. Katie and her brother are taken on a tour of the sights of London, they take in Trafalgar Square, The London Eye and Buckingham Palace in the company of their friend the Lion. His collaborators include the London Mozart Players, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. It has some further information at the back of the book for those who want to know more about some of the places and, of course, if you're planning a trip to London to take part in any of the celebrations this would be a nice way to show a child what there is to see. Many of his books have a cultural agenda and James is passionate about introducing children to art, music, opera, ballet and traditional tales.
