About this deal

Transferring into cars: I don't have my own car but frequently use cars of friends and family so being able to transfer a car seat into a new car efficiently and easily is important. Once you've done it a couple of times it's very quick to thread the seat belt through the back of the car seat and secure it safely in place with the extra safety latch. Whether it’s one of Rory’s friends (group 1/2) or Arlo’s friends (group 2/3), I can quickly adjust the Milestone just by sliding the headrest up or down – no need to faff about with rethreading the straps.

Since the size of each child (and backseat) varies, here are some measurements that may be important for you when considering purchasing the Milestone All-in-1 Car Seat. Surprisingly for a seat that was sized for new babies she felt she had plenty of room, and was supported without feeling restricted. As I said, my baby days are a bit behind me now, and to try out the Milestone I’ve only got a leggy 9yr old who’s at the top end of the age and height range, so I borrowed a baby (thank you Lucy and Stan! If a baby falls asleep in the car seat, the baby should be removed from the car seat and placed in a cradle. The Graco milestone has a very cushioned and adjustable headrest which is fantastic if your little one has a tendency to nod off. Ultimately, the car seat transforms into a high back booster for children weighing between 15-36kg and you use the car seat belt to buckle the child in. While my kids are 2 years apart in age, they aren’t that far of in measurements, so, surprisingly, the buckle position is the same for each of them making it even easier to accommodate either child.

The only downside is that when your child falls asleep you need to have a small neck cushion for them to support their head because otherwise their head hangs forward and when you’re driving you can’t keep stopping every few yards to tilt their head back. The first stage car seat comes with a newborn insert, and there is also a second insert for young babies, which you can easily remove as they grow – it simply offers more padding, and allows you to create the perfect seat size. It’s also as comfy for a new baby as it is for a 9yr old, which tells you everything you need to know about the incredible design and engineering that have gone into it. With children who love to drop food on long journeys, I love that the seat pad is washable and that it can be removed without removing the harness. We recommend keeping your child rearward facing as long as possible because, in case of impact, this seat position will better protect your child's head, neck and spine. The only minor downside was that the way it’s designed means the seatbelt is higher than than the side so you have to lift baby in and out over the seatbelt. As part of the Generation Graco team, we have been taking a closer look at the Graco Milestone car seat.

The Joie Every Stage can be used from birth to 18kg, which is roughly 4 years, which is better if you’re a parent who prefers rear-facing car seats for longer. But not only is the Graco Milestone a high back booster, it is actually an all-in-one car seat that it can be used from birth all the way up until approximately 12 years of age. R44 (legally known as ECE R44/04) car seats are divided into groups based on weight, with some covering multiple groups. Our child has always slept well on long car journeys and rarely has the head bobbing issue as the sides of the head rest are well positioned.

We have one of these for our now nearly six year old daughter and have had it since it first came in to the market pretty much. We’ve got the Milestone too and I prefer Martha to be in an ISO fix rear facing as this one felt a little wobbly when rear facing. This convertible car seat can be used from birth up to 36 kg (around 12 years old), making it the only car seat parents will ever need. It's also very easy to loosen and tighten the five-point harness straps at the front for a comfortable and safe fit on your child. I would prefer the Milestone car seat could be rear facing until at least 18kg, which would mean the child is in the safest position for longer.

One of the best features is that the car seat is quite light, measuring 8kg so I could easily transfer it out of the house and into the car. One of my main frustrations with car seats that promise to be multi-group is all the faffing about with the harnesses and the headrests. If looked after well and cleaned regularly (you can machine wash the cushion pads), there is no reason why the car seat won’t go the distance.com Limited is an Appointed Representative of Compare The Market Limited who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. However, the seat can be used as a rear-facing seat until your child is 13kg, around 12 to 15 months.
