The Corsair Force Series MP510 may appear at first glance to be an incremental update to the earlier MP500, but under the sticker it's an entirely new and far better drive. With eight times as much effective bandwidth as a SATA connected drive, NVMe demonstrates well what flash memory can do when organised effectively. Together, this rather popular combination delivered good performance, but Corsair’s premium pricing kept it out of the hands of many and left it rather uncompetitive. The Phison E12 is the high-end controller from their second generation of NVMe controllers, with the E8 as the entry-level NVMe controller with fewer PCIe lanes and NAND channels.

Under the main label (which doesn't have the copper layer built into it like the MP500) sit two Toshiba 64-layer 256Gb BiCS3 3D TLC NAND packages, the Phison PS5012-E12 controller and one of the two SK hynix DDR4-2400 ICs looking after the drives cache duties.IOMeter is another open source synthetic benchmarking tool which is able to simulate the various loads placed on hard drive and solid state drive technology.

I decided to choose this over alternatives such as the Samsung 970 Evo plus, and I suggest you do the same. The newest iteration of Corsairs renown Force Series MP510 line of NVMe SSDs is different than the others. Max random read falls a bit short of factory specs because they are given for an empty secondary device. While the Force MP510 will eventually be available in four capacities, only the 960GB model is available at launch. Despite its minor limitations, the MP510 delivers substantial value, making it a strong option for anyone looking to step into the world of NVMe SSDs. As unless you already use an NVMe drive, most systems will experience a significant upgrade by switching to the MP510 as the source for the OS and applications. Where they do vary is in respect of TBW (total bytes written), with the 2TB being the most resilient and the 240GB the least.
