But, unusually and frankly bloody sensibly, Anker decided not to add a water tank to the eufy X9 Pro. When vacuuming and mopping is finished, the Auto-Clean Station washes and dries the mops to prevent bacterial growth and lingering odors.

However, when you move the vacuum this way, the map of your space disappears, and you’ll need to go back to your settings and reload your saved map – a slight inconvenience but nothing major.

The Eufy clean X9 pro then emptied its dirty water into the station’s correlating tank and self-cleaned and dried the mops at a high heat.

You’ll have to wipe down the sensors and empty the dust box occasionally, the clean water reservoir will need to be filled and the dirty water reservoir emptied; but both come out easily and latch shut, so you don’t need to worry about spilling everywhere. But, given that it did an almost clean sweep with us only having to press a button, we have no complaints. If you’re looking to invest in a high-tech robot vacuum cleaner with obstacle-avoidance technology and a self-cleaning station, we’d recommend this new launch. Unlike other bots that just rag a wet pad around, this model has two circular 13cm pops that spin at 180rpm while being forced into the floor using the weight of the machine. Depending on usage, you will need to empty and clean the dirty water tank from time to time – the loo’s the best place to empty it – and refill the clean water reservoir, ideally with filtered water to prevent limescale from developing.Hence it divided my floor plan into seven separate rooms but this was easily rectified my merging specific rooms so I ended up with five separate locations instead. The eufy’s take on this flaw is a little unique, in that its mop-rinsing system – mop a little, rinse, mop some more, rinse etc – fights against the feature I would like to see, which is that you can pick it up, take it to another level of your house, and have it do a sensible job of cleaning that level. Regarding its vacuum specs, the Eufy Clean X9 Pro sports 5,000 Pascals of suction power and that’s more than enough oomph for daily or bi-weekly cleanups.

That said, you will almost certainly control all of its functions from the accompanying Eufy Clean app, which I shall go into in more detail a little further down. Everything is very clearly laid out so even the most vociferous of luddites will get a handle on it.

I’d occasionally place objects in its path, and the device would usually lightly tap the object and go around it, so no complaints there. There were a few slight adjustments to the map needed, but this is easy through the app; you can change the room names, room cleaning sequence, and create no-go zones – which was handy for my pesky tassel rugs, and is also great for homes with stairs or other hazards.
