About this deal

They have to be; there’s no way to twist this as a serious endeavour anymore, so why not crank up the unrepentant, unapologetic kitsch of it all and just go from there?

My EDM phase may have died a long long time ago, but I can just imagine fluoro wearing Browny losing his mind to this at Summafielddayzeor Global Gathering (I didn’t go to Stereosonicbecause I wasn’t ripped enough). Moving on to the album’s first single, “We Got the Moves,” this track is accompanied by a must-see music video, as the party has definitely started. A cinematic beginning slowly builds up “Mindreader” just before the track builds on heavy riffings in a stomping Slipknot manner. Tekkno has been described as metalcore, [13] pop, [13] electro, [13] alternative rock, [13] electronica, [13] synth-pop, [16] and pop metal.

For frivolous lyrics like, “We are young, we are free / sippin’ on booze on a sunny beach,” I’ll gladly bring out my glowsticks. And that’s what makes Tekkno actually a fair bit of fun, at least on that absolute most surface level. A certain edge that wasn’t there before has now become the raving pink elephant in the room, packed with never-ending energy and breaking every boundary. It shouldn’t be a shock that they’re willing to offer more than the standard smattering of keys or dance progressions, nor does it ever come from a feeling of obligation. The rest of “Tekkno” follows the same trend of playful, over-the-top choruses with transitions that bitchslap you in the face with their harshness.

In April 2013 the band toured the United States for the first time alongside Kottonmouth Kings and Deuce. The band was nominated for the Up And Coming (best newcomer award) at the German Metal Hammer Awards, held in Berlin on 13 September 2013, which they won. Metalcore (or metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. The album, We Are the Mess, was released on 10 January 2014 via Redfield Records and Warner Music Japan. This track almost feels like the experiment that led to the rest of the heavy electronic tracks sounding polished and is very much a filler song, which wasn’t expected considering the captivating ones heard so far. Featured on “Spaceman” is German rapper/YouTuber/streamer FiNCH, whose quirky rap segments only add to the fun. Vocal-wise, think of Michael Bolton meets Chester Bennington (around the ‘ BURN IT DOWN‘ / LIVING THINGS album era of Linkin Park), with hard rock/EDMcore vibes and synth-a-plenty, this doesn’t have the same energy as the pit friendly tracks we’ve mentioned throughout, but it serves as the perfect closer and interlude into whatever this band of misfits do next. It’s honestly like the band took elements of as many genres as possible, chucked them in a blender and the end result is an earworm belter that you cannot help but sing along to with every spin.

It’s all designed as a rush in which subtlety is as foreign a concept as they come, and where a lot of the production reflects that in some pretty evident flatness. In my opinion, this would have been a welcome change, seeing as new and upcoming rock and metal bands such as Italy’s Måneskin and Finland’s Blind Channel performed at the 2021 contest to critical acclaim. Seriously, I spent no less than 5 days listening to this on repeat after it came out and I’m still not sick of it yet. As good as the vocals are on this track, there would be a danger if they went down this route in future, they would become a Linkin Park tribute act.The band's musical style can be described as electronicore, [32] [33] [34] [35] metalcore, [32] [19] [36] [37] melodic metalcore, [35] [38] post-hardcore, [34] [39] EDM, [32] [36] comedy rock, [36] dubstep, [34] and electro. The band changed the word 'Eskimo' to 'Electric' because it can be seen as a derogatory name for Inuit and Yupik people of the Arctic. A marriage of pop, metal, melodic punk and dance, everything they do is performed with maxed-out energy and (an admittedly knowing) sense of the ridiculous. On 22 December 2021, the band announced that they were removing old songs from all platforms due to offensive lyrics and that they would be changing their band name. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing.
