Angela: When someone is reported missing, the police will try to get as much detail as possible so they can identify the potential risk to the missing person, and an appropriate police response can be made. So, I’ll admit I’ve avoided A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder largely because of how it was promoted and who was talking about it. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final year project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. To anyone looking for a murder mystery with a twist, this book is the right one for you, but I would also recommend this book to those who aren’t big fans of mystery as well.

Peers are good points of contact to establish other important leads—you know, any secret boyfriends, that sort of thing. Fans of true crime will be hooked by the hunt for a killer, but there's more to this Guide than just a whodunit. Please note: the guide displayed here is the most recently uploaded version; while unlikely, any page citation discrepancies between the guide and book is likely due to pagination differences between a book’s different formats. It was intense and everything you want in a Mystery novel, with developments in the plots in all the right places to keep readers enthralled with the story line.

Now that Pippa Fitz-Amobi is in her senior year of high school, she’s decided to investigate the Andie and Sal incident for her capstone project. The language is easy to digest yet immersive, using imagery and detailed description to manifest this bewildering and sensational world and fitting the perspective of a 17-year-old girl. A house not haunted by flickering lights or spectral falling chairs, but by dark spray-painted letters of 'scum Family' and stone-shattered windows. She left home in her car—a white Honda Civic—with her cell phone, but did not take any clothes with her.

When a body is discovered in the remote depths of the Highlands, DCI Karen Pirie finds herself in the right place at the right time. She’d never been this close before, but now that she was, she saw he had a dimple in his chin, just like hers. There are a lot of jokes made about her dedication to her homework and getting good grades, but Pip is not bullied over it and that was a refreshing change. It's a story of families, community and the ways a crisis can turn them against one another in the blink of an eye. Pip's capstone project is interwoven with the third-person narration, so readers are allowed access to her thoughts and work even though she isn't directly telling the story. It’s obvious that it is set up to eventually be a romantic relationship, but I like many, many YA novels, the romance is an afterthought. Inquiries will be made, because if the missing person has run away, they are likely to be hiding out with someone close to them.

I give major kudos to Holly for not have a romantic sub-plot within the book, I feel that would have detracted from the over story arc.

Probably the most prominent relationship in the book is Pip and the alleged murderer’s brother, Ravi.

As the Russian army repels German forces from Stalingrad, Maggie Hope takes a much-needed break from spying to defuse bombs in London. Close behind was Barney, the golden retriever, wearing her dad’s loudest shirt, the blindingly green patterned one he’d bought during their last trip to Nigeria. Pippa is extremely intelligent and loves listening to true crime podcasts and documentaries and she puts her innovative and unique mind to work in solving the dark mystery that is the subject of this book. But he is kind-hearted, intelligent and hurting – not the monster-by-association he is seen as by everyone except Pippa. Pip: So immediately the police are looking for any clues or suggestions that the missing person has been the victim of a crime? This book is a great murder mystery, it has amazing twists and the main character is a smart straight A student that works on a school project that makes her discover the lies and hidden secretes about a murder that happened 5 years ago to some high school students. Here, in Fairview, under the weight of so many widened eyes, of the comments whispered just loud enough to be heard, of neighborly small talk never stretching into real talk anymore. If they’re together, I’ll be super interested how Holly balances their relationship with the new plot. Peers are good points of contact to establish other important leads—you know, any secret boyfriends, that sort of thing. But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the crime, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure.
