About this deal

There’s the La Casa series in Italy, wherein unrelated movies (including House II and House III, but not the original House! By the time you've managed to pronounce the fiendishly tongue-twisting title the movie would be half finished. So cue lots of creative, but cheaply knocked up blood and gore make-up effects and some mildly amusing slapstick moments. That is a lot for a single film to accommodate, especially in 61 minutes, but the small house bequeathed to Naoto comes with many rooms. And it works in large part because of the obvious enthusiasm and love of the genre, especially the Evil Dead franchise, that went into it.

Running an economical 63 minutes, the first two thirds of Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell adopt the more straightforward horror tone of The Evil Dead, while the finale goes full-bore into Evil Dead 2‘s splatstick territory — including rudimentary optical effects, lo-fi stop-motion animation, and a fight with disembodied appendages that gives credence to the otherwise forgotten “Body Builder” part of the title. Although no one does it quite like Raimi, Fukazawa admirably attempts to emulate his kinetic ingenuity. That proves especially true in the current digital age, where there’s an overwhelming sea of options spread across multiple streaming services and platforms that can make finding the scariest offerings tricky. I'm checking out Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell (2012) purely because of the catchy title and how the movie marketing itself out to be The Japanese version of Evil Dead so naturally, as a big fan of low budget horror movies like I am this movie seems like it right up my alley and after 60 minutes I can tell you guys that this movie freaking deliver what it promises. While the narrative bides its time unveiling the truth behind Jane Doe’s battered body, it’s heavily steeped in witchcraft.Once they’re inside, the angry presence of a young woman won’t let them leave, and it’s not long before she starts possessing them.

Well executed scares, clever twists, and earnest performances by Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch give this supernatural haunter serious heft. We’re forever chasing the thrills that a great scary movie can bring, which is no easy feat the more entrenched in the genre we become.

Other than the main character having big muscles and using a few weights to impale corpses and smash body pieces, there isn’t really much of a body-building theme. As we head into the weekend, here’s a roundup of ten of horror’s most intense, bone-chilling movies. Alternately known as "The Japanese Evil Dead," this legendary, sought after independent Japanese cult film will enjoy its first ever North American release in any format and features new bonus content. If you're thinking of picking this one up to purchase I urge you to check out a trailer first to know what you're getting yourself into. While the film was just recently released, it was actually filmed way back in 1995, so that genuine grainy old school look really IS genuine, as are the classic mix of cheesy and cool practical effects.
