About this deal

But after falling in love with Royal Assassin, I was hoping for something a bit more satisfying from Assassin's Quest. This is perhaps due to the First Person nature of the story, as Fitz isn't an expert on his abilities either.

It was not the ending I expected and if things would have gone my way I would have gone for a nicer conclusion, considering that Robin Hobb wrote other books that feature Fitz and the Fool, I can’t be all too unhappy about it though. Believe me, it pained me to give this book a 2 stars rating—and this is me being generous already—but I really can’t give this book a higher rating than that. I would thoroughly recommend the Farseer Trilogy to everybody and hope that you get as much enjoyment out of them as I did. And because I still have so many other things to say I’ll head directly to my characters section now! You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. But when Fitz is captured twice more, the excitement of the moment is quite dampened by the fact that I'm certain he will find a way out of his situation. It’s no surprise he wanted Regal and his coterie dead and I don’t even blame him for his stupid actions.

Kettricken and Chade decide to take Fitz and Molly's daughter to become the Farseer heir, despite Fitz's pleas that he be allowed a simple life with them. It is a shame then, that her plot is sometimes reduced to nonsense by the unwillingness of characters to act. With nothing to lose, Fitz sets out for Tradeford, where Regal has withdrawn, having heartlessly abandoned the north of the kingdom to the Red-Ship Raiders. It's perfect, if I could have asked Hobb to let me help her finish the book I don't think it would have been too different. The US and UK editions have the same artwork, but the covers are very slightly different with the UK one having more white details. Kettle reveals she is the last remaining member of a former royal coterie, though her Skill ability was taken from her. The build-up going into these final chapters was immense; she draws the plot out so much that when the ending does arrive, it’s almost explosive because it’s so shocking that it has finally been delivered. I mean I understand why he used his body to sleep with Kettricken but damn, Fitz deserved better than that and Kettricken too.
