They are easier to seal than swinging doors as their opening is easy to cover, and so kits to set this up are readily available. If your airconditioner didn't come with all those bits I'm sure that something suitable would be available either from the manufacturer or a builder's merchant.

I've just bought a portable air con unit (Igenix IG9900) and currently am putting the extension hose out the window. I’m hoping to find they make some kind of cover that can be jammed on when these things are not in use. The main obstacle to overcome when venting through a wall is creating a hole to connect your hose to the outside air so hot air can be expelled from the building.
Most external AC vents feature flaps or covers to prevent items from entering the vent and blocking it, as well as reducing excess loss of heat. If you come across this problem, your best option is to invest in a longer one which fits your machine or to choose another location for your unit.

If you need to easily remove hot air or gases from extractor fans, air conditioning, or tumble dryers, you need a ducting kit. I’ve been thinking of getting a vent put in the wall for it, however I’m a bit worried about this in the winter!
