About this deal

Turn your Canon camera into a webcam to experience professional image quality during your video conferences.

But I wonder if 18x would increase the negative effect of this slight periodic "shimmering", as well as reducing the effectiveness of IS. I guess that is most useful when looking directly upwards which is awkward if your trying to use any type of support. I don't understand all the hate about the eyecups -- they seem like any other eyecups I've used on binos. The rugged build quality features a rubber finish to withstand the UK's weather conditions, making these binoculars ideal for heavy-duty use. My only complaint is that the eye cups are quite wide so for me they sre pressed hard against my nose when using them. But I underestimated the significance of compactness, weight and ease of use, so overall I find them not significantly better than the Canons. Lunar image in IS was as still as in photos and with enough fine details to spend hours identifying one lunar feature after another.

They will certainly change with time and location, and listed here just for relative comparison between different models. Enjoy excellent viewing in harsh weather conditions thanks to weather resistance to JIS 4 specification. They provide unique and unachievable by other means observing experience, combining steadiness of mount-stabilized binoculars with complete freedom of hand-hold experience. The Trapezium (The1 Ori) – too tight for complete split with 15x, but the group looked like oval star, so partial split. Some of the reviews I've seen say the image is much better with the IS on than off, but I really haven't seen that.

Still, it is a good option for someone looking for widest field of view and large exit pupil in somewhat smaller and lighter package. Doubles are a different story, trying to resolve two close stars doing poi dance is somewhat painful. With the supplied regular alkaline batteries, I noticed that the image "snapped" or twitched a bit every few seconds.

resolution and sharpness of detail are v good, as is "lack of color", focus is extremely quick, it's bright, contrasty and handles and balances well. With the one I had on loan, I viewed stars a few times, and the images remained pinpoint with the stabilizer on, meaning that the stabilizer did not begin to wander off axis on its own, and there was no need to disengage/engage the IS to keep the image optimum. I took a "chance" on the Canon 15X50 IS because of a growing interest in Astronomy and the hope that I could now use a hand-held high power binoc for birding.

apparent wide field of view with clear, flat, low distortion from edge to edge thanks to the porro II prism optics and doublet field flattener element. When you think about binoculars the quality of the optics is always paramount, however regardless of the optical quality if you can’t hold the binocular steady the image quality will suffer. Their shake-free performance not only enhances your ability to view fine detail but also reduces eye strain and fatigue. It worked very well, and regularly allowed me to spot and identify raptors at distances fellow birders using 8x-10x binoculars would need their scopes to either find or identify them. Might not be a deal breaker for some but to me it's unacceptable when the image degrades even slightly when IS is turned on.This phenomenon apparently affects some more than others and I am obviously one of the unlucky ones.
