About this deal

Echo anchors her own MCU TV series this week, but she has languished for most of her 25yr comics history. Since this book has no words at all, it is easy for any age of child to read on their own, without adult help.

A lonely girl draws a magic door on her bedroom wall and through it escapes into a world where wonder, adventure and danger abound. When E was listing off books from her want-list for our request list for the library and mentioned Journey, my ears pricked up. These picture books have no words so are ideal for younger children aged 0-5 who are still learning to read. It combines the bring-your-imagination-to-life aspect of Harold with the making-friends-in-magical-ways aspect of Barbara Lehman’s books (who’s probably my favorite wordless picture book illustrator).Failing to get the attention of her busy father, a lonely girl turns back to a fantastic world for friendship and adventure.

I don’t know how many authors and illustrators know this, but in my experience there are a lot of teachers out there who send their students into libraries to ask for wordless picture books. All it takes to enjoy them is an imagination and a willingness to get lost in the beautiful details of his fantasy world. Recently this book came into my subconscious again as I saw someone writing a review for this beautiful book and discovered that its now a series. The discovery of these free-living Avon beavers was heralded in the national news as a breakthrough moment for UK wildlife.

It was interesting to me to see that, regardless of their age differences (3,5,7,9), each of my children not only jumped at the chance to tell the story, but they caught on to each other's nuanced ways of engaging with the "text" and kind of came together full circle in fascinating, unexpected ways. So while Harold exists in the cold white plain pages of a book, destined to provide only one color for variety, this girl uses her one color to explore other colors and other worlds and other people and cultures. Well, Aaron Becker is a genius because I understood everything that I read and the images tell a spectacular story. Next, it’s time to start work on recruiting support to grow your community, taking action and collecting the evidence you’ll need for your portfolio and application.Sometimes the girl is cautious, while others she is headstrong and needs to be reeled back in by the boy. Becker worked as a designer in the film industry before creating Journey, and his experience is evident in the book’s grandly conceived, yet intimately detailed, spreads. With her mom cooking and yakking on the phone, her dad glued to his computer and her older sister consumed by some kind of electronic handheld device, there’s no one to play with. He finds the girl, boy, and king meeting together, but they’re interrupted with the guards and a machine that can vacuum up their colorful creations – and their chalk! For my part, I’m just delighted that repeated one-on-one readings of books like this one yield all sorts of additional information and details that will help my reviewing.

Gender Diversity: Female protagonist; most other characters are male, although background characters are sometimes agender. Harold and the Purple Crayon is one of my favorite books ever, but that’s in spite of me, also, finding it creepy! After sailing through a town built on a series of canals, she encounters a group of soldiers flying in zeppelins are trying to catch a vivid purple bird. Whether young or old, readers will be enchanted by the limitless possibilities that unfold within these pages. This amazing wordless picture book will take readers on a journey that will show them that all things are possible with a little imagination. Dressed in full regalia worthy of a villain, with his Fu Manchu moustache and samurai dress, there’s something distinctly Asian about him. I enjoyed the ending, which, though a bit of a twist, manages to tie everything together in a beautiful way.
