About this deal

In 1976, studio head Ken Townsend boldly recast the facilities as Abbey Road Studios in keeping both with the building's famous address and the album — and its legend-making cover photo — that punctuated the Beatles' spectacular career. One key advancement was the use of tapes - apparently the Germans were much further advanced than the Allies by the end of WW2 so their knowledge was put to good use.

So, they used to go to Hazel Yarwood [started at Abbey Road in 1947; no relevant experience other than familiarity with her dad’s classical record collection, and an ability to read music].Nonetheless this is a fascinating account of the myriad characters who have worked within the hallowed halls of this famous studio from the 1930's to the present day. But in the closing chapters, Hepworth shows Abbey Road doing brisk business in high-tech remixing—and attracting acts looking for some of its old magic. It may have begun life as an affluent suburban house, but it soon became a creative hub renowned around the world as a place where great music, ground-breaking sounds and unforgettable tunes were forged – nothing less than a witness to, and a key participant in, the history of popular music itself. There is clearly a great respect for the engineers and background staff who helped make some of the world's greatest music. For me, the main and most interesting point to taker from the narrative is that the music that we have listened to and loved was the product of a combination of the artists themselves who supplied the vision of what they wanted to achieve, and the technicians and producers, without whom the sounds that we hear could not have been made reality.

It is important that we continue to promote these adverts as our local businesses need as much support as possible during these challenging times. She has faced abuse and mistreatment of many kinds over the decades, but she touches on the most appalling passages lightly—though not so lightly you don't feel the torment of the media attention on the events leading up to her divorce from Tommy Lee. It is accepted by you that Daunt Books has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. Emma Calvé, the great French soprano, was horrified on arrival at her first recording studio in 1902, refusing to alight from her carriage and four because the place looked more like a thieves’ den than a venue for an artiste of her standing. From film scores for 'Star Wars' and 'Harry Potter,' to jazz legend Shirley Bassey, and Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of the Moon, ' the studio has been home to seminal recordings.Highly recommended for anybody with an interest in the musical recording process and indeed anybody who has had the need to 'cross that bloody road with three mates'. Indispensable reading for anyone interested in the iconic Abbey Road Studios, their history, the recordings made there and the artists who made them.
