If you are in the market for your first Direct Drive wheelbase and considering Fanatec, I recommend this wheelbase without any hesitation. Additionally, as is the case with most of Fanatec’s equipment, the McLaren GT3 V2 will work out of the box with PC and Xbox (including Series X and S) but must be connected via one of Fanatec’s few PlayStation-licensed wheel bases if you want to use it with PS4 and PS5. The rubbers stick slightly to the paddles sensors on every shift then over time get pulled from their recesses.

If you are racing with games such as Assetto Corsa Competizione, and driving the McLaren 720s, you wont be using the same wheel. First is the removal of the third 12-way knob in favor of a 1″ OLED (white) screen, it’s small but informative. This wheel makes use of the simplified system which allows you to attach and detach the wheel without any tools.You can feel some creaking when you grab parts of the wheel but while driving, creaking wasn’t an issue for me. DIRT 5 recently received wheel support, and it works well in terms of detection and playability, but the gameplay doesn’t serve it well.

High Torque Mode on Podium wheel bases is available when using the QR1 Wheel-Side (ClubSport Quick Release Adapter) with this wheel. Beyond this you may wish to adjust various in-game settings which will allow you to further customize how the wheel feels and responds when racing. However, after a little time I was used to this, and it didn’t take too much away from my overall experience.
