About this deal

Jellyfish are aliens and this book was a fascinating introduction to their world and the vast variety of species that fall under the moniker.

The other important takeaway is a strong reinforcement of the realization that science has only begun to understand and map the diversity of complex life on our planet. They are found in every ocean at every depth, and they are the oldest multi-organed life form on the planet, having inhabited the ocean for more than five hundred million years. Foremost jellyfish expert Lisa-ann Gershwin provides an insightful look at the natural history and biology of each of these spellbinding creatures, while offering a timely take on their place in the rapidly changing and deteriorating condition of the oceans. This sustainable children's book is printed from approved sources and is plastic-free, making it a great eco-friendly choice for parents who want to teach their kids about the importance of sustainability.

Great for quiet play at appointments, bedtime, road trips, restaurants, sleep overs, fine motor skill development etc. It’s written in an easy academic manner and the highlight is the spectacular photographs and easy to understand line drawings. The book features illustrations of fish, sharks, and coral, and is based on a popular children's song with a new version. I feel like this book gives me real inspiration for alien species, because they themselves feel so alien to me. Ultimately the poems follow the ebb and flow of words and their rhythms, elegant as a jellyfish’s underwater dance. Check out Dr Sheila Kanani’s assembly video where she shares children’s books she’s enjoyed, where she loves to read, her top tips for enjoying reading and more!

As someone in his early 70s who has been "inhaling" books ever since he could hold one, I have read many thousands of books over six-plus decades. This book isn’t really about 50 jellyfish as advertised on the back: it rather is a monograph on 5 subjects: jellyfish anatomy, life history, taxonomy and evolution, ecology and finally the impact of humanity on jellyfish.

Sharks, snakes, jellyfish and more—these creatures are among the most threatening—and interesting—in the world! The role swap leads to hilarious situations that will be enjoyed by young children and their parents. I have also written five hand lettering books and a guided journal, all with the hope of helping others to discover, explore, and express their own creativity.
