However, the author Karen Sawrey has pulled off that feat with an engaging book that is well worth seeing.

This was important because I feel different theologies are not something to be feared, but to be embraced and grappled with. Yet, once you do, using this book alongside your Bible-reading becomes a very powerful study tool, and brought light to things I had difficulty grasping from just reading the text of the Bible. The Good News Youth Bible features accessible notes, a YouTube playlist, reading plans, book introductions and even space for journaling and doodling!Through revealing the ancient traditions, showing connections between Old and New Testament themes, and profiling important characters, you are left with a deeper and more memorable interpretation of the scriptures.

HarperCollins had already published successful Infographic books like ‘Information is Beautiful’ by David McCandless and were considered industry leaders in this genre, their next step was to produce a Bible in this format! Taking inspiration from the imagery Jesus evoked with His picturesque parables, The Infographic Bible reveals the character of God, his Word, and his redemptive plan in 84 stunning infographics. A printed data visualisation achievement that David McCandless describes as “ awesome and ambitious“. The graphics lure you in and you find yourself peering more and more closely as different layers of information are revealed. Sometimes it is directly inferred from the sources, but at other times it is only indirectly drawn from the sources referenced.

We would agree on a way forward then I would create a spreadsheet template for the contributor to complete unless it was one of my core contributors who is a data geek and analyst – you know who you are! This book invites you to interact with God’s life-giving word in a fun and relevant way inside these pages.This book is an imaginative and thought provoking way of viewing the story and information of the Bible. This was an unbelievable moment for me to be invited to pitch because usually, the author pursues the publisher, not the other way round.

One of the hardest and most time-consuming parts of this project has been creating the data from scratch, which was the case for everything you see with the exception of 2 subjects. Karen Sawrey’s obvious labour of love visualises the biblical story for its readers through wonderful graphics that illustrate aspects of what the Bible is describing.The Bible is one of the key places we encounter God and his heart for a relationship with us, bringing nourishment and wholeness as we interact with it. No matter what your level of journal-using proficiency is, this amazing journey with Jesus will no doubt be notable!
