About this deal

I currently have a Horstmann H27XL programmer, as shown in the attached photo, a Bermuda Baxi boiler and a hot water cylinder which is in a cupboard upstairs.

Second generation programmers that offer up to 4 independent channels and feature improved display and easier programming. The C1727 also includes many of the latest Boiler Plus energy-saving features such as optimum start and stop per heating zone, as well as on-off load compensation. I got this as a replacement for an identical controller, due to the battery having run out on the previous unit. For example they mention it's easy to install and program, has great features, and fits to the exact same back plate. The 4 channel programmer follows Horstmann Controls’ AS (or Advanced Simplicity) design parameters which features an easily read, bright blue back lit LCD display .

The new timer works perfectly well, but I know I will be facing the flat battery issue again in 7 years or so. Fortunately as I was no longer struggling with worn-out buttons and a dead internal battery, putting in the settings I wanted was much quicker than with the old device. The ChannelPlus H27XL is ideal for controlling either the central heating or hot water in a heating system.

This means you don't have to disconnect and reconnect any of the wires coming into the back part, which is really only a terminal board. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Throughout the years Horstmann have pioneered many innovative products for central heating and hot water control, including the UK’s first purpose designed central heating programmers (Potterton 411), the first time clock with a standardised, universally interchangeable back plate, and the UK’s first three channel programmer, followed later by a four channel programmer.

You can set the times to within 10 minutes for the heating and or hot water, for three periods each day of the week. Every time there was a power cut, the battery no longer held the times I had set so I had to manually re-set them, a tedious process. The programmer, otherwise known as the timeclock, timer or clock is a device that enables you to control when the hot water and heating is switched on to maximise home comfort. As it was a like-for-like replacement, you only need to replace the front part which contains all the electronics, which simply slots into where the original detached. The single, two and four channel versions are voltage free as standard and use the same backplate as Horstmann's 425 and 5 Series programmers.

li>Advance and override functions: Easily adjust your heating without affecting the programmed settings. In this age of advanced electronics and the growing trend towards RF technology, Horstmann still sells them in thousands and remains confident they have a place – albeit possible a niche – alongside their . Compatible with Horstmann ChannelPlus H27XL series: Ensures perfect integration with your existing heating system. Our previous model with exactly the same programming procedure the heating setting was the key control.

So, like others, at Horstmann we have addressed perceived shortcomings of older controls by introducing larger, more easily read screen displays, presenting . Also useful are the Boost override buttons which allows y ou to bring on the heating and / or hot water for 1 or 2 hours at any time. li>Compatible with Horstmann ChannelPlus H27XL series: Ensures perfect integration with your existing heating system. I’m not sure which controllers will be compatible with my system so any advice would be greatly appreciated. One thing to watch is if you turn off the mains electric switch on the wall, say over the summer, the controller's battery is used more keeping its time setting, and eventually shortens the life of the battery.
