As you should expect resistance – particularly in the early days, but with every expectation of reducing over time – start off with the Gencon in a nice, quiet, environment with the only distraction being a handful of treats. Gencon headcollars have been designed by dog owners for dog owners, to be gentle on dogs and very effective, which is proving popular with pet owners, kennels, dog trainers, pet behaviourists, Dog Clubs and vets alike.

Depending on the behaviour of your dog you can either clip this end of the lead to your dog’s collar, giving you extra control and reassurance that an excited dog can’t slip it’s lead, or formed into a conventional handle. Finally, clip the fastener either to your dog’s collar – creating two points of attachment, giving you a higher level of control which is particularly useful for hyper-active dogs, at least until regular usage of the Gencon improves their behaviour – or back onto the metal loop on the lead to form a conventional handle. I love this harness, it is a nice fit on my Sprocker spaniel, it is comfortable on him and doesn’t ride up into his armpits.

In fact regular washing at 40°C will get rid of all the grit and dirt, keeping the Gencon All-in-1 or Headcollars soft and comfortable on your dog.
