About this deal

Soon after, Tabby Dewhurst arrives on the Ile de Ré in France, estranged from her family and unable to afford even a room for the night. In between, she’d been production company-side, working as head of development at MJZ and helping to expand the company’s operations into new formats and content - including building their drama and comedy slate. And this is why I was so shocked with all this what happened, how she was treated, how one can make other's life a horror. She's been cut off from her former life for months now and rarely having any contact with those back home suits her just fine.

There was an ever-present urge to keep pushing the creative vision from all departments and a real collaborative environment as soon I joined. Seven years ago, Terry Archer and his family experienced a horrific ordeal which nearly cost them their lives.

Louise Candlish is a an author I discovered earlier this year when I read The Sudden Departure of the Frasers and then followed this up with The Disappearance of Emily Marr. All our producers are trained via AdGreen in sustainable best practice which we adhere to on all our shoots. The multiple viewpoints, and the setting, shifting from a posh street in London to a holiday town in France, and the jump from past to present kept the story moving at a fast pace and me turning pages.

Arriving on the windswept Ile de R off the coast of France, Tabby Dewhurst is heartbroken and penniless, unable even to afford a room for the night. Of course, when working in a team, everyone is going to have their unique style in approaching creative tasks, but it’s always healthy to have that open dialogue if fundamentally there’s a strong, shared creative vision between everyone going into a job. They got off to a good start – winning their first commercial pitch – two of Channel 4’s award-winning 2023 idents. I can recommend this book highly, especially to female readers who enjoy family dramas and family mysteries. However, I will firstly say that if you enjoy Candlish’s more recent psychological thriller novels and like a book that is character driven and evenly paced, you should definitely give this one a go whilst eagerly awaiting what she brings us next!

Easier in the sense that we had much more access to people because it was an incredibly social industry. I pride myself on being able to figure out those moments well in advance of the author fully revealing them, but this one was well-hidden up to the last moment. While I was reading this a couple in the public eye had a spat on twitter following their separation and I couldn’t help but think – WHY? Tabby begins to discover the truth behind the real identity of Emmie Mason and begins her own investigation. Prior to joining Leo’s, Emily was head of development at MJZ, helping the multi award winning production company to expand into new formats and content, including building their drama and comedy slate.Candlish's intention was very clear, but she perhaps wrote herself into a corner with a twist that simply couldn't be given the substance that it required or it would have dimished the twist. The sudden and total publicity seems to turn every act into a performance and every platform into a stage. Tabby is a young woman who has escaped a troubled past, but has found herself in France alone, after being dumped by the boyfriend she went travelling with. Pike is looking to get to the bottom of this case but has a hard time trusting anyone—including Dody. When she was passing through Ile de Ré – a holiday destination favoured by the wealthy, set just off the coast of France – and wondering where she might stay for the night – she saw a woman leaving a cottage carrying a suitcase, and heard her saying the numbers out loud – in English – as she worked the property’s digital lock.
