About this deal

Focusrite have announced the incredibly exciting next generation of Clarett interfaces, the Clarett+ 2Pre, 4Pre and 8Pre.

It’s perhaps a shame that it’s not variable, as it does make rather a drastic difference to the sound. Offering an expanded dynamic range and higher signal-to-noise ratio than previous models, the Clarett+ is the cleanest way to get sound in and out of your DAW. These discounts are usually communicated through newsletters, which are created and managed by us with the tool "Emarsys". Comprehensive software bundle - Get studio-grade results with the included bundle of recording software, mixing plug-ins and virtual instruments. I have a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 3rd gen, and I don't find an issue with gain unless you are using something that needs a ton of gain like an re-20.You can connect to both the XLR and TRS inputs simultaneously and select which one you'd like to record from in 'Device Settings' in Focusrite Control. In terms of I/O and features, the Clarett 8Pre adheres pretty closely to the template established some six years ago by Focusrite’s Firewire–based Saffire Pro 40, and recapitulated on the USB–based Scarlett 18i20. As far as the issue of the amount a gain knob must be turned to achieve a volume level ------ A gian knob increases gain. If the pre's on the UFX are the same as in the Babyface Pro FS - and I suspect so - you'll have a clearer and deeper presentation with more gain on tap than the Clarett. Focusrite have also retained the “all‑analogue Air EQ” feature, which can be applied to individual preamp channels.

gain of this unit is given as +57dB but good luck if you want to use anything approaching that, as it will be in the very last travel of the pot.Everyone’s preferences will vary, no doubt, but to me, it would enhance the flexibility of the Clarett interfaces if the Dim control were replaced with an assignable button that could be made to perform monitor switching, put the outputs into mono, engage talkback and so on. I really enjoyed working with this thing, it's very simple to set up, everything just worked exactly as I was expecting. With remarkable low-latency performance and extensive analog and digital I/O, the Focusrite Clarett range of Thunderbolt audio interfaces brings the sound of classic ISA mic preamps straight into your DAW. Further configuration is via the elegant Focusrite Control app (for PC, Mac and iOS devices), which provides remote access to some relay‑switched preamp settings (line/instrument mode on channels 1‑2, and the Air EQ on all channels), as well as configuring the internal signal routing between the USB channels and the physical inputs and outputs to create monitor mixes, selecting the internal sample rate, and so forth. Many of the manufacturers who have adopted Thunderbolt as a connection protocol cite its potential for very low–latency operation as a key advantage, and Focusrite are no exception.
