It does a fine job but the handle has strips of wood splintering off of it like it should be sanded. In the final week before my firstborn was given an eviction notice, my husband joined me for an appointment and afterward, gently pulled me in the direction of the Shake Shack.

It makes a perfectly shaped burger, uniform and big enough to actually fit the jumbo hamburger buns. The burger smasher tool allows you to make it much easier than using a spatula or manually forming burgers. Now living in Denver my best option is Five Guys, which is good enough on the run, but nothing compares to Shake Shack. My house is filled with smoke,it smells like burgers, and there’s grease everywhere but oh boy was dinner delicious. Then he uses a very sharp scraper held at a forty-five degree angle to the cooking surface to ensure he gets every speck of that crisp, brown crust. Just to make it a little CraZy~~ I did 1/2 ground bison meat from our local co-op with 1/2 ground beef. Kitchen stoves get nowhere near as hot as restaurant ones, so you might need up to thirty or even forty-five to get a really dark crust going. We added bacon and hot peppers to be like the smoke shack burger :) For anyone that doesn’t have a meat pounder, I used the bottom of a small saucepan to smash the patty and it worked really well.

Sainless Steel Burger Smasher: Rust-proof and stain resistant, high quality stainless steel burger press, with round shape fits most pans and skillets. Also, the equipment you settle on should require minimal cleaning and associated controls to minimize contamination risks. cutting the breasts in half makes way better fajitas, chicken parm, regular ol’ grilled chicken, you name it. Oh I miss standing in line for an hour in Madison Square Park to get my greedy fingers on one of these!

First, a confession: the only thing standing between vegetarianism and me is the American hamburger.

Wide Application and Easy to Clean: The griddle press fits most frying pans, skillets, grills and griddle and is very easy and smooth to use. Most impressed with my new bbq equipment guys, smashed out 24 burgers on Saturday afternoon, most people having 2 or more, I personally managed 4. The last time I incubated of future generation of my family, my OB’s office — a place you cumulatively spend a spectacular amount of time over the course of 40 weeks — was diagonally across the street from the Upper West Side Shake Shack, and I only ate there once. I followed someone’s advice to sear one side of the chilled puck (I did so for about a minute) so it was easier to smash once you flipped it.

Up here in Vermont (where we moved to from Brooklyn in 2012) we only have big thick burgers that, yes, make you feel like you’re in a food coma after you eat them. Between the decadent buns toasted in a bath of butter to the patties fried in oil and some of that butter, this is perfect. I don’t eat beef, but have been craving meat this pregnancy… Do you think it work with ground turkey? It’s a 6-inch diameter round press made of rust-proof stainless steel with heat-resistand wood handle. No Shake Shack here in Lancaster (although Five Guys isn’t anything to sneeze at–and we love the peanuts), but this brings it home.
