About this deal

I'm coming from a Helix LT which was great, but I needed something that could sit on a desk and the Stomp felt like a downgrade (Half the DSP) and more suitable as a floor unit. The Blank patch is thus my 'Standy' / 'Bypass' mode - and I need to page to and from said default whenever I wish to take the pedal off active duty. The Helix effects have more variety and character, and you can do more for combinations of effects and obviously switching.

If I want an additional effect, I just dragged a block out of the loop and dropped it in the chain in the right place and save it as a new patch.

related to the above, most time values (rate, delay time etc) can be set for Sub divisions of your tap BPM by scrolling all the way up past its max value. With the Boss GT-1000, boss have taken all that they've learned over the years a, nd incorporated all of the acclaimed sounds from the company's stompbox effects history, in addition to harnessing tones from the "500" series of Delay, Modulation and Reverb pedals, as well as the ground-breaking MDP technology to offer the kind of dynamic response not available with any other unit. This is actually a very significant miss for me - as I'm so used to using the Bluetooth App with my Eventide H9 Max - and I hate having to drag my laptop over to the pedalboard / pedal-chain and hardwire it to the pedal every time a firmware release / update arrives. I have owned a number of digital effect boards in the past (Vox's, the G-System, Firehawk HD, Helix). There’s also a huge range of BOSS effects, complete with ultra-flexible routing options and deep real-time control.

I feel that the pedal should have a proper 'Stompbox Mode' option which disables all the AIRD Preamp assignments in one move. With complex devices such as this - the overall User Experience is everything - and judging by how often I get caught out as such - I feel three is still quite a bit of room for improvement. I also liked the big footswitches as well as the built-in expression pedal, which I miss on my FM9, but not enough to get an external pedal.

GT-1000CORE harnesses BOSS’s breakthrough AIRD technology for a new level of performance, flexibility, and usability.

Mastering FX—Eleven different Mastering FX allow you to shape the overall sound at the line output for different styles and playing situations. The GT‑1000’s black metal chassis carries a large monochrome screen with a row of six rotary encoders. And with the clever Stompbox feature, you can adjust commonly used amp and effects settings across multiple patches at once. I feel Boss has a real advantage with its 5-knob Control Strip - it just needs to figure out how to give you quicker and easier access to tweaking live sounds - which is still somewhat clunky at the moment.

I feel that is one area which Boss keeps making a mis-step in - there were too many misses on the MD-200 - where overall the Wampler Terraform and GFI Synesthesia are much more compelling. Going further, you can apply different AIRD Output Select settings to the main and sub outputs to optimize the sound for two destinations at once.Somewhat contrary to my initial understanding, the CORE does not come with a default 'Stombox Mode' / 'Front of Amp Mode' as such. So while the architecture is very powerful in terms of the total number of 'Blocks' you can deploy at once, you can only do so in a very specific manner as we will detail next. Quote from: gumtown on May 22, 2022, 06:39:54 PMNo idea, but my bets are on a replacement GR-55 before a replacement GT-1000. And with GT-1000CORE’s versatile effects and output routing, you can deliver optimized sound to a stage amp or PA mixer—or both at once.
