Its rock protection plate features a flexible construction that shields your feet from sharp rocks and rugged terrain. The lugged outsole pattern features ASICSGRIP™ rubber while incorporating an uphill and downhill lug pattern on the lateral and medial side of the shoe to improve traction on slippery terrain. Bryan: The predecessor to the Fuji Lite 2, the Lyte is a more ‘minimal’ version of the Trabuco 10, with shallower lugs, lower stack and no rock-plate. I enjoyed the bounce from the Flytefoam midsole but did notice they feel quite a bit stiffer than the neutral shoes I usually run in, which was down to the Duomax overpronation support system.

The FlyteFoam midsole provides good padding for longer runs, and the AsicsGrip outsole is great on varied terrain, from mud to rocks. Bryan: It seems that Asics has retained the Flytefoam midsole with a 34mm stack and 8mm drop that was featured in the Trabuco 9. This rubber compound is functional for providing traction, especially amongst wet and slippery conditions. As a company Asics have also committed to fully recycled polyester and 100% renewable energy in their offices by 2030 and net-zero carbon emmissions by 2050.I thought of giving the Trabuco 10 a try after enjoying runs in the Fuji Trabuco Lyte, the predecessor of the Fuji Lite 2 . The ASICS GEL-Trabuco™ 10 GTX trail shoe is designed to keep your feet dry when you’re running or hiking in wet conditions. I personally found the toe-box to be the main let down of the shoe for me, although Mike in his review of the Trabuco 9 ( RTR Review ), where there is virtually no difference in terms of volume and fit, but a difference in toe bumper construction, found the toebox to offer a superior all-day experience. A dual density midsole system positioned to enhance support and stability and to help prevent overpronation. This trail running shoe provides improved cushioning and traction while allowing runners to cover more terrain with less effort.

Support and stability are also provided, courtesy of the Duomax midsole, which prevents overpronation. Bryan: Again, there seems to be no change in the outsole from the Trabuco 9, with a full coverage, 5mm lugged Asics Grip. The advanced comfort comes from the FlyteFoam midsole material that's coupled with Gel technology cushioning in the heel. Some of the lugs are not very widely spaced so I did get a few little stones caught in them, this doesn’t tend to happen with a wider lug pattern, so this could be something for the Gel-Trabuco 11 perhaps. Cushioning was adequate on the tarmac sections and never felt too thin which it can do with some trail shoes.
