The Sovol SV06 is an FDM 3D printer in a modular design with beautiful turquoise colour accents. The printer has a classic I3 structure, which avoids wear of the gears and their frequent replacement. With its build volume of 220 x 220 x 250 mm, the open-source printer is ideal for everyday use.
The SV06 Plus's inductive sensor automatically detects 25 points and compensates for the unevenness of the heated bed. The intelligent sensor ensures perfect levelling and a beautiful first layer! I’ve been seriously considering the SV06, but some of the things I’ve been reading lately have made me hesitant.
Even the tools are better. I hate the big wide annoying spatulas this one comes with a nice small slimline one. Extra nozzle is included and a proper nozzle swapper wrench, I actually ironically needed one of these so I am even happier. Because the motherboard uses UART mode and G34 is updated, the SV06 Plus has the G34 Auto Z Align function. To automatically level the x-axis, you just need to select the function - the x-axis will be adjusted effortlessly. The robust screws of the double Z-axis and powerful stepper motors ensure precise nozzle movements with an accuracy of 0.001 mm. The SV06 is powered by a proprietary 32-bit motherboard with TMC2209 drivers. This motherboard ensures stable and quiet operation of the printer! Among other things, the printer supports UART mode, but other modifications and upgrades are also possible for experienced 3D experts. Sovol recommends not modifying the printer when getting started with 3D printing. For the price you get an included PEI plate and Direct drive. This is nearly unheard of for a starter printer.
I am experienced with 3D printers. I have a semi-modified Aquila X2 that works well enough, but I see 3D printing as less of a means to an end and more of an end in itself. I don’t necessarily want something to tinker with, I want to make parts. I realize that all 3D printers need some massaging, but as more projects come up round here, I’m interested in something as close to “press button, receive object” as possible. The SV06 has the G34 Z Align feature. This sets each Z-axis motor independently to set up the X-axis. This print really impressed us with both the detail and the overhangs. Even though we turned up the print speed to reduce the print time, the Sovol SV06 Plus was still able to produce beautiful results.
