About this deal

We've taken a closer look at the image quality and dynamic range impact of the move to a Stacked CMOS global shutter sensor. I am able to take night scene shots at base ISO with shutter speed as low as 8 seconds handheld at 12mm. ISO 400 on m43 is comparable to ISO1600 on FF, since the amount of light gathered for the full picture will be the same.

Actually pal I was on many weeding last few years, and I have pictures from all of them made with different cameras. Ability to do handheld shots at 1/2 s and 100mm (200mm) equivalent (haven't tried slower) negate my need to carry a tripod or monopod. It is also worth noting that the Olympus 12-100mm costs significantly more than the Panasonic 12-60mm. And not only dusk, sometimes you need to enter in some places where you do not have bright light even at day time. Zooming in and out is absolutely smooth without any hicks, and so is the focusing, which allows for very precise focusing. We also offer product videos, reviews and image samples to help you to choose which camera or lens is right for you. Sunstars aren't the best (nor the worst), and some people will have trouble accepting an F4 zoom on a Micro Four Thirds body.

A MSC autofocus system provides quick, quiet, and precise focusing performance to benefit both still photo shooting and movie recording. body (for best balance and full dual IS functionality) – it’s nearly the same volume and weight as an X1D and 45mm. As I wrote in the backstory, I had always brought the 12-40 whenever i needed ONE lens to do everything, but those extra 60mm on the long end, and image stabilization really adds more than one might think. Which is what you apparently didn't understand when you asked "So you can close aperture on 135 format but you can not open it on MFT? Extremely late observation but the people saying it this lens should have been awarded Gold are 100% correct.Curoious how you’d compare this lens to the 14-150 II as a travel/hiking lens to leave on the camera.

I've kept it on my lap while sea kayaking, on my shoulder when snowboarding, always carrying it when I'm going to Lapland for cross country overnight ski trips, or sailing, hiking, etc. And as a combo, combined with a variable ND filter/polariser, the creative opportunities were phenomenal. If your firmware is outdated, you will have a lot of issues with autofocus, as well as the 5-Axis Sync IS stabilization.

I find the images shot with the Olympus 12-100mm F4 lens to be excellent in sharpness, with high levels of fine detail and contrast. The current APSCs from Sony coupled to the SEL18135 at 361g offer almost similar range but at a whopping 820g. Comparing it to Olympus 12-40, I noticed that the contrast (especially against light) was clearly better on the 12-40.It's the kind of one-lens solution that might tempt you for travel photography in particular, but these types of lenses often trade convenience for outright image quality – so is that the case here? Spider my understanding is that manufacturers can turn off the option of seeing uncorrected RAW images in Lightroom for certain lenses, and Olympus decided to do so for the heavily-distorted 12-100mm F4 lens.
