Slug collars - plastic rings with a lip to make crossing it difficult, placed around individual plants such as lettuce. One application of Nemaslug provides 300,000 nematodes for every square metre of soil, giving around six weeks control of slugs, this is generally enough time for seedlings and bedding plants to get well established. Whilst at this stage the slug itself and therefore the nematodes are likely to be found by predatory ground beetles, such as Pterostichus melanarius and preyed upon. Mass producing nematodes needs specialist equipment, treatment and aftercare in sterile and bacteria free conditions.
