Lisa Noone is the main character of the book, who is twelve years old and lives with her mum near Westy Lane where all the murders are happening. I found myself shaking my head and wanting to sit Chantelle down and have a chat with her many times. Although this didn’t have the same feel as some of MH’s other books there was something a little bit refreshing about it. Chantelle and Leon take centre stage in this latest book along with a few additional characters such as one of Chantelle’s acquaintances Anton.This is the second recent Mandasue Heller book I have read where the central character is a teenager and though didn't dislike the book I didn't enjoy it as much as the first few books I read, I prefer adult main characters. I had concerns that this one might not live up to my expectations, but I needn't have worried as Respect is just as impressive. People-trafficking could just be the tip of the iceberg, and Frank has no idea what these people are really capable of. But now her feckless mother has taken off for Spain with her latest boyfriend and she's single-handedly raising her tearaway nine-year-old brother Leon.

But Leon has made some new friends: teenage gang members who have given him a mobile phone, a knife - and some drugs to hide in her flat. I liked the storyline of the book, a talented teenager living with her useless uncaring mother and her 9yr old out of control little brother who gets involved with a local gang and hides weapons and goodness knows what else in their flat. Leon quickly gets into trouble with a gang, Chantelle needs to find money so they can eat and try and track down her mum, before Marys debts fall on Chantelle and estate life takes over. Trying to rob a small supermarket in Manchester sounds like easy money, but after one dead body and one of the four wounded, it turns out this non-threatening supermarket was actually a front for a much bigger and more sinister operation – and the friends have bitten off much more than they can chew. For new readers, author mandasue heller's early novels such as "The Front" or "Forget Me Not" are good starting points.On the cover it says "if you love martina cole you will love mandae sue heller" well before you get excited its no were near as a good a read .
