Righteous Purpose just makes your operative immune to critical damage, allowing them to have any criticals inflict normal damage. Glorious Martyrdom is really sweet for only 1 CP, if you can get a Novitiate up close and she does get incapacitated, this could dish out the damage and gain you a decent amount of Faith points. The Strategic Assets remain my favorite part of the rules just because of what they encourage you to do modeling-wise, but I’m waiting on Kill Team to give us a reason to actually make those bases for fighting over in a game. Cheap, powerful, and allows you to double activate before the opponent or just activate before them. There’s a pleasing absence of horrible little bits of boring cuboid scenery, and instead there’s a pile of detailed battlescape to make your games with this kit all the more immersive.

Aerial Surveillance Drone lets you drop a free markerlight on an enemy operative instead of activating an operative (you can still activate them, this just costs an activation) – an extremely choice ability for kicking off your turn, particularly if most of your team is in Conceal mode. As a mission the hook is more interesting to me than the execution; it’s fine, but I’ll likely want to do something more interesting with the terrain layout and tie it into a larger 40k campaign, using it to allow the winner to get a free firestorm attack before a game. Novitates Kill Teams come with their own sweet set of rules, starting with six new specialisms to replace other Battle Honours. It’s brilliant to see Kill Team getting support so early after it’s release, and it’s setting a precedence of what we may get moving forward, with the odd new units or upgrade sprues. You have very useful EMP and Fusion grenades but my favourites are Target Analysis Optic and High-Intensity Markerlight.
