It is free draining to promote healthy root growth and contains a carefully balanced range of nutrients to promote healthy growth for up to 9 weeks. Westland is all about getting people excited about growing, maintaining their green spaces, and living in a more sustainable world. Providing your houseplants with a premium substrate is detrimental to achieving a healthy, large root system.

Our mix is made using a unique blend of four key ingredients: coco-coir, perlite, pine bark, and worm castings.The grow pot height is standardised (normally 12cm or 19cm) and shown on the size option for each hydroculture plant. We spent the last few months working on the composition in partnership with our friends at Ecothrive, who shared their expert knowledge on growing media compositions. L is for LECA Leca stands for lightweight expanded clay aggregate, a really useful addition to potting mixes that need to be airy, for instance for epiphytes. Liners can also be cut down to size with scissors for a neater fit if they bulge inwards slightly at the top. The nutritional profile of Simply Houseplant has been designed with tropical houseplants in mind, to make available all the key nutrients needed for the strong growth of indoor foliage plants, at the right proportions, for the first 6-8 weeks once repotted.

The soil should not be so shallow that without drainage the roots will sit in water, nor so deep that the water drains below the roots leaving the plant to dry out.
