About this deal
There is nothing new about leading animals by the head: the Incas had headcollars for their llamas 1000 years ago; in Ancient Egypt they were used for leading camels and riders have guided their horses by the head for over 4000 years. Hold a titbit in your right hand, then with the left hand gently lift his head as you give the sit command.
We’ve been using Halti training leads and their alternatives for years, so we know what we’re talking about! Designed by Dr Roger Mugford, the Halti Harness stops pulling, calms over-boisterous dogs and simplifies training and behavioural therapy. Finally, it is hard, but essential that you do not scold or punish your dog when you finally do recapture him. These leads give you the opportunity to change the length of the lead by having 3 clip rings spaced out along the lead. As always, stepping backwards creates a more powerful learning situation combining the dog’s natural desire for contact with you, with a small degree of compulsion or authority.
I downloaded this app whilst trying out different apps and none came anywhere near close to the level of support I received with ZigZag! As I have a small dog and a large dog that is strong, I put the smaller dogs lead around my waist so if I need to use two hands on the larger dogs lead I can drop the smaller dogs lead without worry. The Halti dog training lead is made from soft padded material, which makes it very comfortable to hold. Alternatively, you can use the double ended lead in conjunction with the Halti for light, steering control or simply as a normal, every day lead. While the original Halti training lead comes in black and red, the newer version is now available in two-tone colours of lilac, grey, red and blue, as well as the original plain black and plain red. The lead is slightly padded for extra comfort and has a d ring at each end and then a ring in the middle to make the lead suitable for multiple use. The Halti harness applies the same principle as the headcollar but steers the dog from the chest rather than the head.
