About this deal

A world where humans live crammed onto one continent whilst dinosaurs (that’s right, real, actual dinosaurs) live on the other. Here, though, even though it’s entire continents we’re talking about, the sense of grandness of scale is evidently lacking. I was interested in the afterword by the author and her influences and the thinking behind the story.

This was a lot more original than the first two books, more serious and impactful, it feels almost like Wilson finally managed to make this series her own but had to ride on the coattails of already popular sci-fi dystopian fantasy novels to get there. What I really liked about this book is that it wasn't a slow story, it just got on with the adventure. I felt like I was stepping into a full formed world that was vivid and easy to imagine thanks to the gorgeous writing. It was impossible to put down my conclusion:I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a thrilling read full of mystery and fantasy!

Well if the small short review doesn’t grab your attention I am sure the small circular sticker that graces the cover of the beautifully crafted and eye-catching young adult book ‘ The Extinction Trials’ that reads. I love his story arc and character development, the reader gets to know him better during this book and realise there’s so much more to him. ALSO, I would just like to point out that Finalists have been coming on food hunting expeditions for YEARS and the only thing they have very found is the bland corn stuff. Told in the same format as the first book, we jump back and forth between Stormchaser and Lincoln's point of view. The world in which this is set is more of a “them or us” type of situation for the human civilisation,.My favourite genres are predominantly Sci-fi and Fantasy, but I also like horror and some contemporary. P.S: Grudgingly giving it 3 stars which is actually 2 point something because the writing was bearable and I read this quick. Similarly, if we look at the character dynamics, there is a half-baked (that word again) relationship between two people and I say that because again, it wasn’t developed at all but I was supposed to think it was and care. I realized this author is very hopeful and have the idea that Humanity can be a better Humanity and prosper and he use science to tell us that but the ending had me.

He has a lot more weighing on the outcome of the trials than Storm does and it’s interesting to see how that dynamic pans out during the story. You’re telling me that scientist WHO JUST DISCOVERED THAT DNA IS A THING now think that they can easily unleash genetic warfare on some dinos by simply stealing their eggs. Stormchaser and Lincoln find themselves back on Piloria, very quickly after their first visit, but this time with three viruses to kill off the most deadliest dinosaurs. but with 100 competing, just how many people do they think will survive this time around that so many are needed?Oh and I loved the fact that there was no romance because there could have been some lovey dovey stuff but I'm glad that I was spared this whole "we're alone in a strangle place so let's just hook up" shit. The path you're given is only as certain as far as the next corner, which is just ahead and you'll never see what's coming! The Extinction Trials is a fast-paced adventure which looks at the true cost of damaging the natural world.

The way the Stipulators treat other lives as expendable and worthless is eerily close to current political attitudes. The Extinction Trials is based on the concept that dinosaurs still roam planet earth and have massively affected humans. I love the concept; living in a world that’s so deprived and overpopulated that the human race want to wipe out the dinosaur continent of Piloria in able to survive. I'm not quite convinced by the romance at this moment in time but if you love The Hunger Games (which I do) or Jurassic Park (which. So this book has been on my “on hold” shelf (I started reading over a year ago, and haven’t been able to get myself to finish it) because halfway in, it was like nothing had even happened yet? There isn’t actually much romance though, though it’s definitely hanging in the air and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in the sequels.
