About this deal

Over hundreds of thousands of years, women have developed more sensitive noses (particularly around ovulation and pregnancy), finer hearing at high frequencies, extended colour vision, and longer life expectancy than men by an impressive half decade. Finally the author looks at how medical science has not been testing anything much on women - for good reasons of course, mostly around childbearing - and many objects were not designed with women in mind. Her shame-free voice bears the signature of someone who has explored, tested and loved her own body and mind, as a life drawing model, poet, egg donor, academic, musician and very nearly a sex worker. In the dawn of the 1950s, Ruby and Eleanor are complete strangers – until their paths unexpectedly collide.

Modern medicine, neurobiology, paleoanthropology, even evolutionary biology all take a hit when we ignore the fact that half of us have breasts.

She shares her thougths as he works on one of his masterpieces, The Spirit of The Dead Keeps Watch, a work so important to Gauguin that it haunts his later self-portrait. This is a short book trailer that was created to visually introduce some of the heart and intent behind writing EVE. So, ultimately, this isn’t simply an objective overview of the science behind “how the female body drove evolution”.

Woven in are the origin myths that cradled Polynesia before French colonists brought the Christian faith. While some people believe the earth was created 6,000 years ago by a supernatural entity who made humans exactly as we are, scientists know that we descended from other creatures, just like every other animal and plant. With boundless curiosity and sharp wit, she covers the past 200 million years to explain the specific science behind the development of the female sex.
