About this deal

Corefix is extremely robust and able to support huge loads, however care must be taken with cantilever brackets as the combination of a heavy item on this type of arm increases the forces on the wall significantly. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. This highly effective and innovative product was developed to safely secure heavy loads including cabinets and brackets to dot and dab plasterboard walls or board supported on battens. Furthermore, their core is held within the wall plug and so itself provides additional lateral support that the pipe/broom method doesn't.

Push the plug in to check if fits, you can used a screw to pull it out if you need to do further drilling to achieve the right depth. This is going to depend on the type of plasterboard wall you are dealing with and the quality of the plasterboard fixings to be used.Made in Britain, Corefix wall plugs are independently reviewed to ensure a safe and secure hold no matter the fixture.

Tested to 250kg (without failure) on four fixings with a safe working load of 73kg, it is ideal for heavy loads such as TVs and wall cabinets. Fischer DuoPower and the blue coloured Rawl 4 All both spring to mind… Have I just outed myself as a wall plug nerd? Often resulting in the fixing screw bending slightly over time due to the distance between the rawl plug and the face of the plasterboard/item being fixed. And I might want a bit of overhead on my fixing, so it’s getting on for an 80mm long fixing and 85mm deep hole. We would recommend using a wire and pipe detector, although care should be taken as these may not detect plastic pipes where used.

If your plasterboard wall is a dot and dab wall, then yes definitely you can fix your kitchen wall cabinets to that wall, but only if you use the correct type of wall fixings and for that we recommend Corefix. Of course, other frame fixings will claim to perform the same role but unlike these inferior plastic versions, Corefix has a steel core which transfers the load from the plasterboard to the solid blockwork or masonry material behind the plasterboard. I used these for fixing some additional kitchen storage items from Ikea and installing a TV and so simple to use but with giving a robust trust worthy heavy duty fixing.

However make sure that you have sufficient space between the plasterboard and the wall behind it to allow the fixing to be inserted fully before opening out. Featuring a strong steel core, our reinforced wall anchors are designed to transfer the load to the brick or block wall behind the plasterboard, providing a safe and strong hold. Therefore when cantilever brackets are used tests should be conducted to determine security of fixing, regardless of wall construction or fixing type used. It has been tested to over 250kg on four fixings, enough to support even the largest radiator, boiler, TV, wall cabinet and all wall-mounted sanitary ware.
