A bathtub groundsheet, for the living area, was provided with the tent but this wasn't needed as the ground was dry. We left our bags in the tent with us, the porch did have a puddle of water but I knew better than to leave anything by my waterproof boots out there and they were fine. Once you've got the basics (outer sheet first, fix the corners, slide in the poles, stretch the corners, hang the inner, pull outer with ropes) it's easy to put up.
