About this deal

So far I’ve painted all the ruins you can see in this post, which is about half the terrain that came with the original Warcry starter set. He is known for bold colour schemes and sharp edge highlights, which he paints with typical German perfectionism (one of the reason he is such a notoriously slow painter). Rob dives further into the detail of the kit and how the slide and lock system works in his full review video below! Then to really bring out the wood grain, I drybrushed all the wooden parts across the grain with Zandri Dust.

this kit is also compatible with the Azyrite Ruins Kit allowing you even more flexibility when building it and allowing you to build a collection of themed terrain for your games. For the wood areas I wanted to keep it simple and let all that wonderful detail in the sculpt do the work for me. It makes 3 sections of ruins, 2 of which feature raised floor sections, a corner piece, a broken pillar, and includes a padlocked chest. I still have a can of Retributor Armour from the very small force of Adeptus Custodes I painted a couple of years ago. Thankfully I hadn’t gotten very far with the Wraithbone; I had completed a test piece and put the first layer on a couple of other bits of ruins.Included in the set: 6 large ruined walls; 2 small ruined walls; 2 padlocked grills; 2 padlocked chests. Does anybody with better reading comprehension than me understand what I should be putting down on my table when playing Matched Play? Using high-quality printed terrain, combined with GW models from the Azyrite set, this set is perfect for adding some vibrancy and wildness to your wargames.

I also noticed that the bricks that make up the roof/first-story floor are hollow underneath which meant that they didn’t quite sit right as the gaps in the bricks didn’t match up with the pillars on the building.

Once the wash was dry, I then drybrushed the stonework with a pure white to bring out the raised areas. The brickwork is a bit flat for our tastes but there is enough detail around it to make it look realistic. Rich, thematic detail makes these terrain pieces a pleasure to paint, build and even use as base decoration for larger models. When the Azyrite ruins came out, I knew that I wanted to purchase a set to paint up for my terrain collection as they looked really nice on the internet and I thought that they could readily fit in to a 40k game, as well as Age of Sigmar.
