You know what that means. And if you don't like romantic comedies, don't go and see it. If you do, you will know what to expect. The mushy feelings creeping up on you. All those 'If Only . . .' emotions telling you there is a lovely place somewhere in which people fall in love and everything works out kinda perfect. If only for a while . . . say, for the holiday period over Christmas and New Year . . . or for the 138 minutes which this film lasts. Sounds simple enough. But each twin has a learning curve to overcome to perform the other twin’s job. They both realize lying to people is hard, even if it is only temporary. After they swap, each twin stumbles upon that one guy who makes their heart flutter. And just when the twins develop real feelings for their new guy, they wonder what will happen when the ruse is over. Meanwhile each twin has work-related challenges they must thwart to maintain their lively hood.

Now I’ll read anything, but romance is most certainly my least read genre. I average at about one a year and usually I read it in December. I just love a little Christmas romanceNancy Meyers's 'The Holiday' is a sweet, cute Romantic-Comedy, that charms you. Its A Lighthearted Joyride, with proficient performances. Cass agrees to switch places. This allows Cass the opportunity to escape the daily grind of running the family bakery, as well as her ex who isn’t getting the hint that they are over. the bakery in Starlight Peak ?? are u kidding me, i wanna work there so bad and taste every damn sweet thing that was made there, the goodies that were mentioned in the book were legit SO mouth watering 😩 This was my first Christmas book for the season. It was sweet (literally as both the main characters are chefs and there is a lot of baking going on.) It really reminded me of a Hallmark type of movie. The Holiday' is funny & heartwarming. I enjoyed the characters & their journey, as different as it is, made me smile. The goings-on are consistently lighthearted & the result overall, is precious.

It was rare to meet someone who wasn't hustling a few jobs at least, hoping for their big break. Oh, but the script. It's drek. It's an insult. It's a random jumble of utterly bogus settings and complications that some cold heart in marketing stitched together, convinced that this would rake in some dough. You've got Christmas trees, poignant reunions, and tears that appear on cue. This is a feel good type of story and a heartwarming romance. It's a little cheesy but it provides you with all the good feels around the holiday season. 🎄

Iris meets Arthur Abbott, Amanda's elderly neighbor when she drives him to his home. Arthur turns out to be an Oscar-winning screenwriter from the Golden Age of Film. Over dinner, Iris tells him about her troubles with Jasper. He gives her a long list of movies with strong female characters to watch so she can become "the leading lady of her own life." All in all, it’s a pleasant, enjoyable debut & I’m game to give Maggie Knox’s future releases a whirl. Iris Simpkins (Kate Winslet) is a woman in unrequited love nursing a broken heart because the man she is in love with has got engaged to another woman... Amanda Woods (Cameron Diaz) is a woman nursing a broken heart... and possibly a bruised fist... because her boyfriend has been cheating on her with a 24 year-old receptionist. You know, I saw "Apocalypto" this weekend as well, and, of the two, "Apocalypto" was the feel good movie, and "The Holiday" filled me with rage. One had some integrity; the other was an empty exercise in marketing. The music helps set the mood in this movie. It is all tamed down and helps to set the feeling of again I must say romance. It makes it so easy to watch and if you can find a guy that will sit down and watch this with you it will create feelings that may lead to something else.

so, what i loved about this story was definitely the relationship between the two twin sisters Cass and Charlie. it was so heart warming to read about their ups and downs as they basically rediscover themselves by pretending to be each other. The supporting cast is very important as they make the world feel real, they can literally make or break such movies and the actors who portrayed them were great as well. This has so much that I know so many people will love. And I hope you do. But if, like me, this isn't quite your jam? I don't think this will be memorable or enough of a stand-out to change your mind about the premise. It did make me hungry, though.
