I know the purpose of the jacket isn’t designed for running but the close/technical fit of the jacket means that I can comfortably run in it and move my arms without constraints, but without it feeling like it’s ballooning around me - this definitely ticks the multi-purpose box for me. The Montane Ajax certainly ticks all of the boxes as a tough, reliable, no-nonsense waterproof shell. The adjustable hood is also very well designed so that you can wear a hat, helmet or nothing and it remains in place in head strong winds.The Origin 2 is adjustable, lightweight and packable, so you'll always be prepared for variable weather. Built with 75 denier fabrics throughout and 3-layer Gore-Tex, this jacket is designed to withstand heavy use.

We do have other Montane equipment and clothing, so I’m hoping from the past experience and knowledge of the brand that I’ll get the same good level of longevity for this jacket. If in colder weather a suitable synthetic or down insulated jacket with add further warmth however may be too warm if on a very active activity. It was important to me that the jacket was lightweight but durable, had taped seams, good pockets that could hold a map, compass amongst other essentials. We may be able to arrange for a repair to be carried out at your cost, so please contact us for further details if you would like to use this service.Before washing your waterproof jacket, zip the front closure, pockets and pit zips completely, and fasten all flaps and straps. This is great in terms of waterproofness, but a bit annoying when you have to take your gloves off to open and shut the zip and pockets. The adjustable hood is helmet compatible so you can use it for more activities than just walking and two zipped hand pockets are positioned out of the way of harness and rucksack straps for your convenience. I've read a few threads on here with some people loving a jacket and others having absolute failures.
