About this deal

In the video you will see I didn't have clamps long enough for the size of wood so I built a simple jig to hold everything in place. We also offer a wide range of other personalised products, including mugs, photoframes, jigsaws, key rings, coasters, luggage tags and much more!

Maybe if you try this trick with your inkjet images before applying the Photo transfer medium you may also get a sharp image out of the inkjet print. Chances are you’ve seen tutorials that show you how to use Mod Podge to transfer a photo onto wood before. Also, lay a sheet of wax paper inside the pillow cover so that the back of the pillow cover is protected. You can also use a gloss varnish or sealant spray, depending on what you have available and the type of finish you are after. I personally have not done this on canvas but I have seen other people post about it so as far as I know the answer is yes, but since I haven’t tried it I don’t have tips for you. Belt Sander - a good belt or orbital sander is essential when working with a rough material like pallet wood. Brush a thick layer of transfer medium over the image, and then lay the paper (glue-side down) on the fabric.

Once again the Mod Podge Photo Transfer medium was comparatively very labor intensive but I didn’t see any clear advantages. As you get more experience, you’ll start to see exactly how much you can rub to reveal the image without ruining it. Laser Printer - Apparently this will also work using an inkjet but a laser will give far better results. Before gluing my boards I used a belt sander with 120 grit paper on them to get rid of all the old weathered top layer of wood. A reminder that your image will appear reversed once you transfer it, if the image has text or has essential features, be sure to mirror image before printing. And here is a look at the image completely covered with Mod Podge Photo Transfer Medium using a flexible squeegee as the applicator tool. Jenny has appeared on HSN, Scrapbook Soup PBS series, and is currently the co-host of Hands On Crafts for Kids on PBS. I have also always let it dry before the final seal so I’m not sure what would happen if you don’t – sorry I can’t really answer your question. The show you that you can use that Mod Podge Photo Transfer medium on many different surfaces, including fabric. You want an even coat covering the entire wood surface, you want it thick enough for the paper you printed the image on to stick firmly but not too thick that it oozes out of the sides.

After they were glued and had dried I used a palm sander with 180 grit paper before progressively hand sanding up to 600 grit.It works really well and there is no need to scrub away any of the paper as only the toner is transferred. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The packaging also states that the transfers can be made on fabric or with a decal method for “hard surfaces such as glass, ceramic, metal or clay”. Mod Podge in general is really easy to use, however, the photo transfer medium takes a bit of practice.

Cut off a piece of parchment paper and place your photo – face up – and cover it fully with a medium level of the Mod Podge Photo Transfer medium. Use a (broad) brush or a foam brush to apply the medium to the front of the image until the image is no longer or barely visible.I would recommend a cardboard backed canvas because it is was a bit difficult to rub the paper off on a stretched canvas. Once you get the hang of the process you can customise your process to achieve a range of different outcomes! Finally, after allowing it to dry for 24 hours, place a most sponge on top of the paper and slowly rub away the paper.
