The current value for a new and sealed Mini X-Wing Fighter is estimated at 13 € with an average yearly gain of about 10%. The box was complete with all the decoration seen on the various 20th Anniversary Star Wars sets, a set number of 40519 (the event's date written in typical, local formatting) and the set name "World's Largest LEGO Star Wars Unboxing". Twisting the knob activates the cam mechanism in the body, using a 1×5 rounded plate to push apart Technic knobs, which in turn opens up the wings. The X-wing Starfighter is one of the most recognizable ships from the Star Wars universe, and is itself an icon of sci-fi and pop culture.

It’s a nice hefty size and if you take the best parts of all three X-wings we’ve reviewed on this site so far, you can Frankenstein one together that would just be mind-blowingly awesome. This is going to be an odd review because I’m just going to point all the things I didn’t like or could have been better but still give this a thumbs up. Melding LEGO and Technic in the most ingenious ways, the build is especially challenging but rewarding, especially when you see the functions in action!Even though the X-wing won’t actually break apart in your hand, all these moving bits make the final model feel a bit flimsy, or unstable. These sets offer a concise building experience, making them suitable for quick builds or as collectible items for fans of the Star Wars universe. Almost immediately from that point on The X-wing was immensely popular among fans and the fighter is now one of the most recognizable spaceships of all time. Hopefully the designers can find a remedy for it, but all these issues don’t feel great in a premium model like this.

The girls toy aisles aren't our regular ball park but we occasionally like to try something different to our norm.Apart from the clunky nose design, I’d say the designers have knocked the aesthetics department out of the park. LEGO, the LEGO logo, the Minifigure, DUPLO, the FRIENDS logo, the MINIFIGURES logo, DREAMZzz, NINJAGO, VIDIYO and MINDSTORMS are trademarks of the LEGO Group. The LEGO Star Wars Mini Building Set theme consists of smaller-scale sets within the broader LEGO Star Wars line. Fortunately, it’s well-finished by the designers – there’s no random colours anywhere, and the plates generally follow the shape of the bodywork quite smoothly. Starting at the back, the trans-orange 1×1 round plates for the engine glow should have been trans-pink.

It’s significantly out of scale though which throws off the look of the model – I’d have preferred if the designers included a printed 3×3 dome instead. Luke is a brand new minifigure and is the definitive version of Luke in his orange pilot suit so far, featuring detailed arm prints and dual-moulded legs!It’s been ten years since the last Ultimate Collector’s Series version of the X-wing, so it’s not surprising to see a new LEGO version in 2023. The hexagonal rear of the X-wing is recreated perfectly here, complete with accurate greebling detail (included a blank dark grey gaming controller piece)! There is this large gap in the bodywork that is quite noticeable when the wings are opened, plus some uncovered Technic detailing on the inside faces of the wings themselves. I’ll be raffling every polybag I review this year in one big lot, all 260 sets (with the possibility of more). Some fans have criticised the plastic injection mark which is still visible in the centre, but that is a very minor issue in my book, and I’m a huge fan of the new printed plaque.
