About this deal

This is a very direct sequel to the first scenario, featuring many of the same cards, and another Villain drawn from the. This is mitigated somewhat by the fact that you only score 3 out of the 4, leaving one Kodama to their own devices, but annoyingly that only goes so far. The Decree cards make for some good changes in the flow of the game, and with the varying number of Decree cards in the game, each game will play differently.

Whilst many gamers out there may focus their attention on “bigger” titles, and with thousands of games flooding the market over the last few years, is Kodama: The Tree Spirits likely to take root, and grip people’s imaginations? Everything is done very professionally with this company and always lets you know every step of the process. You have caterpillars (to eat), flowers (to pretty the place up), stars (to wish upon), clouds (to see shapes in), fireflies (to chase), and mushrooms (to get high off).

The figures below are by a Shikoku artist, Zōgetsu, who rarely signed his name on his religious creations, unless they were for an auspicious occasion, which were then presented in a signed Kiriwood box. It is possible to take the branch that would give your opponents the most points, but most of the time you’re better off focussing on what you need, rather than ruining other players’ plans. It is still a great game in a small box with beautiful illustrations that people of a wide range of experiences can enjoy. At the start of the round a card is drawn randomly from that Season’s deck, which will alter gameplay somehow, either by altering how many points are awarded for certain icons on cards, or altering game rules slightly. After all players have taken four turns, and placed four cards into their display, the season will end and each will then select one of their Kodama cards. You can amass a respectable score by going through the motions somewhat, but to score well, you will have to make bold decisions about which cards to choose on any given turn and plan a few moves ahead. Seeing your tree grow and the animals and plants inhabit the newly created living space is much more fun than worrying about how many points you get from what card.

It feels very therapeutic when you attach each branch card to your tree's trunk or extend an existing branch. These 4 or 5-star reviews represent the opinions of the individuals who posted them and do not reflect the views of Etsy. There is even a 3D version now, which creates another level of complexity and enjoyment, but that may be too much for some people.

Starting with the player with the 1st player marker, the active player will choose one of the branch cards from the display and places the card onto their personal tree. e., Daruma), Kodama were said to be possessed of supernatural power, that if properly worshipped and honored, would protect families and villages.
