About this deal

I touched on the Static V2’s comfort in the “design” section, but I will cover comfort and stability in more detail here. On my first night on the Static V2, I felt that I slept much more comfortable thanks to the body mapping. I think it is worth the extra weight though for the additional comfort and because you don’t need to carry a separate pillow. The higher the R-value, the better the mat insulates in regards to how much heat is lost through it.

Side Rails: Integrated into the patterning and construction, side rails help provide a secure, comfortable sleep by centering you on the pad and inhibiting air movement while tossing and turning. I’ve recently been on two winter wild camping trips using the Klymit Inertia O Zone sleeping pad with the closed cell foam mat and the Therm-a-rest Z-Lite Sol.But once you get the hang of how it rolls into the storage bag, you'll be as impressed as we are with its size. With our own NZ designed Intents Outdoors and Orson tents and camping gear you can head out with tried and tested tents and tarps.

I can see how some sleepers wouldn’t like the V-shape or need time to get used to it, but both my boyfriend and I felt comfortable and stable on this pad. If you need a lightweight, small pad to throw in your bag on your travels, this is an excellent sleeping pad. While this can effectively save grams, it results in a sleeping pad that can feel like it's trying to buck you off instead of cradling you to sleep. While I just started using this pad, I already feel confident that this is one of the best lightweight backpacking sleeping pads for your money. It took me much less time and energy to blow up the Static V2 than my old pad, so I give it a 5 out of 5 for inflation.

In both instances, I usually carry a 45-65 liter hiking backpack, depending on how long I’m out there. You just won’t find this level of dedication on the other Kylmit sleeping pad reviews, let me tell you! In this review, I will discuss our experiences concerning comfort, stability, pressure points, and other features, like how long it takes to blow up the pad, and how easy it is to roll up. I could feel the cold coming through, so to use in really cold weather would require a reflector of some kind to block the cold transfer. There are certainly lighter sleeping pads on the market if you need an ultralight option, but for most backpackers or hikers, the Static V2 will be light enough. It’s a great mat, ideal for summer use or, as I intend to use it, doubled up with another mat in colder weather. When I first opened the packed sleeping pad, I immediately noticed how much smaller and lighter it was compared to my old mat, yet when I rolled it out, it was still the same length!

What the Static V2 does is combine a reasonable level of comfort, weight savings, and durability into an affordable package that's a great option for seasoned backpackers and newbies alike. The special design of the lateral chambers minimizes air movement and provides stabilization during weight shifts during sleep, resulting in a central restful sleeping position.

Every ounce and inch truly matter when you are packing all of your essentials: sleeping gear, clothes, food, electronics, and camera equipment.
