The chapters are presented with a brief character analysis, a timeline of events, illustrations of people places and events, reflective observations from contemporaries and sections devoted to highlights of the ruler’s life. The noble ones who loved their subjects interspersed with the ones who were power mad, or just mad, and other who only wanted to make and spend their money on luxury or sin. It also looks at fifteen influential monarchs whose actions helped to shape the power and position of the king or queen of the country today. We take pride in offering a wide selection of used books, from classics to hidden gems, ensuring theres something for every literary palate.

Amusingly, and hardly surprisingly, this became much more conservative as it got closer to the current day. When she wasn't riding her bike or making things out of loo rolls and scraps of fabric, Ruth spent her childhood reading about detectives and historical figures.

Here is another hugely popular Little Princess story written with great humour and understanding of small children. Crofton also states too many myths and propaganda pieces as though they are factual plus much of “Kings and Queens of England” is dated (such as the section on Richard III).I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! British Kings and Queens takes an overall look at the British monarchy, explaining what a monarchy is, how it works and who gets to sit on the throne. On the other hand, the format is useful as a quick reference with charts depicting the monarch’s coat of arms and listing such facts as birth date, parents, children, succession date, house, death, etc; while the section contain photos, quotes, and small supplemented texts to round the bios. Plus this guide includes a unique feature, Palace connections, linking each monarch to our five historic royal palaces. For example, the wonderful Wolf Hall trilogy) I had thought that perhaps these non fiction accounts of the English monarchy from the Normans through to the current Elizabeth II might be a bit dry . I have this thing about English Historical fiction, and this book makes it easy to keep all the different kings straight! The book describes how the power of the crown has changed as a result of both the character and ability of each monarch and evolving historical circumstances. Discover the kings who fought off the Vikings, the queen who spent the longest time on the throne, the king who died from eating too much fish, and many more. The other thing that I was especially struck by in the course of this reading was the realization of how deeply embedded within the English tradition is respect for the rule of law, which has obvious bearing upon a solid understanding of American history as an extension of English history.

I do not like reading very much and my Mum is pleased that I have found some books I like so much that I read them without being asked! The detailed, humorous and colourful artwork from bestselling Kate Hindley shows what it's really like to grow up as a princess. Worth mentioning is that the quoted paragraphs are much too small in font size and will present some trouble for those with eye problems. Those familiar with the topic won’t learn anything new and therefore the book is only strongly suggested for general readers who simply want to be debriefed. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything.
