About this deal

I drink mine out of an authentic Gold Label Barley Wine glass – which is how I found this Blog, as I only have one glass left and am worried about if or when I break it – as I do like the right glass for the right drink! She started drinking them as a teenager, and I well remember her drinking 7-8 bottles in an evening. T: syrupy malts upfront buttressed by lots of creamy fizz, turning bitter and slightly spicy/gingery; residual maltiness with dryish finish in the background, underlined by but a faint touch of alcohol. another whistle ‘allowance time’ when the foreman arrived with a 12 pint jug for the gang of 6, you grabbed a pint dimpled jug glass from the shelf and drank you 2 pints.

Deep amber colour, clear and clean looking, with a white foaming head that fell away far to fast for my liking. Overall: I was given a can of this a while ago by a co-worker who described it as one of his 'guilty pleasures'.Unlike other Maison’s the wines needed for their NV are selected first, in the spring following the harvest. v=1700935404","width":2500},{"alt":"Johnnie Walker Black Label 12YO 70cl","id":2923331584051,"position":3,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":1. Typical jobs: hospital/ward nurse, waitressing in a busy restaurant, cleaner, porter, labourer/construction worker, gardener, farm worker. This is where there’s some debate as to the authenticity of the remainder of the story, mainly because I can’t remember.

But a slightly clashing, metallic mouthfeel stays in the deep end of the palate, a bit like that of a fizzy fruit-flavoured soft-drink. What a lovely little drop, easy on the pallet with citrus undertones combined with a rather pleasurable malty taste. Especially the bit when I asked my boozed up workmates who had drunk their 6 pint allowance and a pint from the sampling line what they did of an evening – they responded “go up ter’ club for a few lad, what’s thee do? By morning I would be pleading for death’s release – whilst she would spark up a fag, watch Friends on Channel 4 and then go to work, seemingly unaffected by the previous evening’s fun and games. I think I ended up on a bus with a hen party, I pretended I was the stripper and a few of them helped me out of my clothes.

Rich without being creamy or sickly, sherry like in many aspects, slightly woody feel too, which adds to the sherry idea. I was introduced to it by my late sister-in-law 30 years ago – Have always got a few cans in but don’t drink it very often these days but when I fancy a Barley – there is nothing to beat it.

I thought it was a little too attenuated, it didn't have any malt profile or residual sweetness you'd come to expect from this style. If it was Gold Label boy did you know it because you had down that pint mighty quick before getting caught! With each edition, prepared under the auspices of our Maestro del Ron Cubano Asbel Morales, the focuses changes. you would have felt the drink burning your throat as it went down, The current version is a shadow of its former self and I personaly feel ripped off once again by the brewing industry. I bollocked all 5 one after the other and then chundered all down my brand new ben sherman and pod’s. v=1626435831","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":"Guinness Surger Cans 24x520ml Cans - can","id":6698868506675,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":1. It’s funny how you can’t get a bottle of Gold Label barley wine in the pub these days but you can get Leffe.
